

Harold Keith Ormston, Sr., 74, passed away peacefully to be with his Heavenly Father on Monday, April 30, 2012 after a five year battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. His family was at his side. Born February 1, 1938 in San Antonio, TX to Bess and Harold F. Ormston.
Keith grew up in Houston where he went to Lamar High School and graduated in 1956. While at Lamar, Keith played football and was very active in the Rodeo Club. He enjoyed rodeoing and riding on the Salt Grass Trail Ride. His trail ride experience ultimately led him to volunteering on the Parade Committee for the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. He was a Life Member of the HLS&R and was on the Parade Committee for over 50 years.
After high school he went on to attend Texas Tech University and the University of Houston before entering into the oilfield transportation business with his father at Hill & Hill Truck Lines in Houston, TX. He was very proud of the growth that Hill & Hill experienced during his tenure. He then went on to start his own trucking company, Ormston Transportation Inc. in 1982. During his years in the trucking business, he was an active member of the Oilfield Haulers Association and the Texas Motor Transportation Association (TMTA).
Keith loved the Texas wildlife, the outdoors, playing golf, ushering at Chapelwood, hunting trips with family and friends, and being on the water at Lake Travis with his children and grandchildren. Keith had a funny personality and a warm smile. He was a loving and caring husband, father, and grandfather. He was most proud of his family. His grandchildren affectionately referred to him as “Pop”.
He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter Tammy Diane Ormston; son H. Keith Ormston, Jr.
Keith is survived by his loving wife of 53 years Mary Neil Ormston; daughter Kathy Crittenden and her husband Mike Crittenden of Houston, TX; son Kevin Ormston and his wife Cheryl Ormston of Houston, TX; and three grandchildren Kendall Ormston, Kayla Ormston, and Travis Crittenden.
The entire family would like to express their appreciation for the caring staff at Advanced Personal Care’s Hamlin House.
A memorial service is to be conducted at 3:30 in the afternoon on Wednesday, May 9, 2012 in the sanctuary of Chapelwood United Methodist Church 11140 Greenbay, Houston, TX 77024. Immediately following the memorial service, the family will receive friends during a reception in the Parlor Room at Chapelwood.
