
Harry was born February 6, 1936, in Livingston, Texas to Harry Fitze, Sr. and his wife Myrtle Fitze.
He was a long-time resident of Houston, Texas graduating from the University of Houston. Harry served in the Texas Air National Guard in the 147th Fighter Group.
He began his career as a teacher in HISD but soon transitioned to sales and management roles in the furniture and real estate industries. Although he pursued a variety of careers, he always held a passion for teaching, and returned to college to obtain his Master of Education. The highlight of his career was working as a special education teacher at T.H. Rogers until his retirement at the age of 84.
Harry attended Fulshear United Methodist Church and enjoyed participating and serving with the United Methodist Men’s group. He will be most remembered as an educator who cherished time spent with his students, an animal lover with a variety of pets over the years, both big and small, and as a certified Master Gardener who loved flowers, gardens and everything green, but most of all, Harry was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.
Harry was preceded in death by his parents and sister Linda Fitze. He leaves behind his loving wife of 64 years Nancy Fitze of Katy, TX; son G. Kyle Fitze and wife Linda along with their sons Ryan and Sean of Colorado Springs, CO; daughter Lisa Stephens and her daughters Kate Stephens and Lauren Stephens of Austin, TX; sister Margie Granberry of Cartersville, GA; brother Dickie Fitze of Dallas, TX and sister Barbara Coulter of Kingsland, TX and many friends and family.
Harry was a loving and spirited husband, father, teacher and friend who touched many lives through his years of educational service. He will be missed by all who knew him. His memory will be honored with a private celebration of life.
