Harry Dean Lewis (Boss) was born on March 29, 1955 to the late Dan Lewis and Ernestine Leggett in Houston, Texas. He was the 6th child of 8 children and grew up in a Christian home. Harry accepted Christ at a young age and was baptized at Metropolitan MBC, where he became a member under the
leadership of the late Rev. R.P. Pruitt.
Harry grew up in the Kashmere Gardens area of Houston, where he attended JC McDade Elementary, Key Middle School, and the new Kashmere Senior High, graduating in 1974. It was at Kashmere that he discovered his love for basketball and formed many lasting friendships. He went on to attend Paris
Junior College on a basketball scholarship, where he became a proud member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity.
Harry began his professional career as a machinist, working with several companies before discovering his true passion—landscaping. This newfound love led him to establish his own business, DAL Craftsman Lawn. Known for his precision and keen eye for detail, Harry’s work consistently turned ordinary yards into lush, green landscapes that were the envy of the neighborhood.
Harry lived a life filled with love, laughter, and a deep devotion to God. He treasured the meaningful relationships he built throughout his journey. On November 26, 1988, he married the love of his life, Deborah Bullard of Dallas, Texas. Their union drew Harry even closer to God, and in 1990, he accepted
his divine calling into ministry. From their marriage, Harry was blessed with one son, Narrada Lewis, and two bonus sons, DeMarlon and Ronoldron Bullard, whom he loved as his own. Later in life, Harry and Deborah returned to Houston, where in 2001 he began pastoring Camp Ruby Outreach. He faithfully ministered to both the saved and the unsaved in the Settegast community, pouring his heart into the church and its people. Camp Ruby was more than a ministry—it was his passion, his purpose, and his extended family.
Harry was preceded in death by his mother, Ernestine Nickerson; his father, Dan Lewis; his two sons, DeMarlon and Harry Lewis; his three brothers, Ernest, Tommy, and Charles Johnson; and his youngest sister, Brenda Clark.
He leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with his devoted wife, Deborah Lewis; his three sons, Narrada Lewis, Ronoldron Bullard, and Carl Harris; and his three daughters, CoVondra Lewis, Tenecia Lewis, and Telisa Lewis. He is also survived by eight grandchildren: Jalacia and JaKayla Bull-
ard, Donnielle Reed, Triniti Johnson, Supreme, Ralph West III, and Kamri and Kam’ron Lewis. In addition, he is lovingly remembered by his three sisters—Edna Cannon, Juanita Holloman (Thomas), and Shirley Vallier (Ivan)—all of Houston, Texas. Harry leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives,
and dear friends who will continue to honor his memory.
Harry’s life was a true reflection of love, faith, and dedicated service. His memory will live on as a source of inspiration to all who knew him. He will be fondly remembered for his warm heart, infectious sense of humor, and the meaningful, lasting impact he made on the lives of those around him.
