
Harry Harper Montgomery passed away on October 15, 2012 at the age of 95. He was born on September 15, 1917. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry, Sr. and Annie Cupples Montgomery, and by his beloved wife of 58 years, June Carter Montgomery. Survivors include; children, Harry, III and his wife Barbara, Gene and his wife Karen, Steve and his wife Connie, Ralph and his wife Karen, Rhozine and her husband Lyle Hart. Also surviving, are his grandchildren, Melanie and her husband, the late Douglas Karrenbrock, Melinda Montgomery, Devon Montgomery, Andy Thetford, Jennifer Montgomery, Chad Montgomery and his wife Amy, Mandi and her husband Brett Smith, Wendy Montgomery, Rhozine and her husband Larry Perez, Jonathon Hart, and Nicole Hart. Harry also delighted in his 11 great grandchildren. Surviving Harry is his much loved sister, Ann Keyser, her children and grandchildren. Harry moved to Houston as a young boy and graduated from the University of Houston. There he served as President of the Senior Class and in 1958 was a recipient of the Distinguished Alumni Award. During WWII, Harry served as Captain in the Medical Administration Corps as Medical Unit Commander in Northern France. After the war, he was a respected home builder first in Houston, and then later in Galveston. After retiring as a homebuilder, he worked for 28 years in the survey supply industry as a lumber buyer. Harry and his wife June, were long time members of St. Luke’s UMC. He had a great passion for fishing and shared that joy with his children and grandchildren alike. He had no greater love than the love that he had for his wife and family, and while we will miss his presence, we are joyful that he is reunited with his beloved June. The family would like to extend their thanks to Erika Motte with Embracing Hospice and to Kate Falaye for their compassionate care. A special debt of gratitude is given to Cynthia Whitley, whose compassion and devotion to the care of our father will always be remembered. A service to celebrate his life will be held at St. Luke’s UMC Chapel , 3471 Westheimer Rd. Houston, Texas 77027 on Saturday, October 20, 2012 at 1:00 PM.
