

Harvey Jensen Borgen passed away on Thursday, October 22, 2015. Harvey was born on March 31, 1941 in New Rochelle, N.Y. He is survived by the love of his life and wife of 52 years Gail Evelyn Borgen, a wonderful daughter Jeanne Keating, and two loving grandchildren Kayla Keating and Austin Keating. A sister Wally Borgen and her husband Bud Dick and a brother Douglas Borgen, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Harvey graduated from Admiral Farragut Academy in Toms River, N.J. in 1959 then attended New York State Maritime College at Fort Schuyler, N.Y. He graduated in 1963 with a BS in Marine Transportation, a 3rd Mates license, and commissioned as an Ensign in the Navy. He married Gail on June 8, 1963 and moved to Texas to begin his career with the then Humble Oil and Refining Company in the Marine Division. He graduated from the University of Houston with a Master’s Degree in Business Management. He had various assignments in the Marine Department in Houston, TX, Bayonne N.J., NY City and Benicia, CA., retiring from Sea River Maritime after 33 years of serving in 1996. He had continued to serve in the Naval Reserve until he retired in 1972 as a Lt. Commander. He was a member of at the Hey Hollies Square Dance Club and served as President. Harvey was in the Curling Club of Houston and the Exxon Mobil Mac Club having served as President for several years. He cherished being with family and friends. Always seemed to have a smile and touched the lives of many with his courage battling his many major diseases. The family wishes to thank his caregivers from Family Tree and Hospice Compassus for their care.
A Funeral Mass celebrating Harvey’s eternal life will be on Monday, October 26, 2015 at 10:30am at St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church, 11720 Joan of Arc Dr., Houston, TX 77024. Interment in Glenwood Cemetery, 2525 Washington Ave., Houston, TX 77007. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Caring for Carcinoid Foundation, 20 Park Plaza, Suite 478, Boston, MA 02116 or The Alzheimer’s Association in honor of the deceased would be appreciated.
