

Hector Aleman Alvarez, age 82, of Mathis, Texas passed away on Monday, December 23, 2024. He was surrounded by his loving family at his home in Houston, Texas after ending his battle with cancer. Hector was born the son of Juan Alvarez and Fermina (Aleman) Alvarez on October 27, 1942.
Hector graduated from Mathis High School "Home of the Pirates". He married Ignacia Rodriguez in 1964. After traveling to different states to join the cotton farmers and later planted their roots in Houston, Texas where he became a produce manager for Rice Supermarket for over 30 years. He later switched careers and became a custodial engineer for HISD where he later retired in the late 2000's. He was witty, funny and a good provider to the family. He enjoyed taking short trips to his home town with his wife in Mathis, TX. To his grandkids he was known as "Partner", he always looked out and was there for us when we needed him. His humor was one of a kind, he loved his coffee, his newspaper, his wife and his dog Bruno.
Hector is survived by his loving wife Ignacia R. Alvarez, his children Lydia Alvarez Cosby (Mike), Minerva Gutierrez, Hector Alvarez Jr., Victor Alvarez (Mary), Delfina Alvarez Duron (Ray Duron Jr.), Eloy Fira (Sarah). Grandchildren Michelle B. Alvarez, Jasmine Rai Mendoza, Sabrina V. Duron, Monica Gutierrez and Minerva Gutierrez, Ray Duron III, Christian Alvarez, Ambrose Flores, Andrew Flores, Adryon Alvarez, Stephanie Herrera, Eloy Fira Jr., Anthony Fira and Veronica Rodriguez. And numerous great grandchildren with Steven R. Sanchez leading the pack. He leaves to cherish his memory, his sibling Sylvia Mullens. He is preceded in death by his parents Juan and Fermina (Aleman) Alvarez, daughter Lydia Alvarez (1962-1963), brother Juan Alvarez Jr and stepson Eduvigen Rodriguez.
A visitation for Hector will be held Thursday, January 2, 2025 from 8:00 am to 1:30 pm at Funeraria Del Angel Crespo, 2516 NAVIGATION BLVD, HOUSTON, TX 77003. A chapel service will occur Thursday, January 2, 2025 at 12:00 PM, 2516 Navigation Blvd, Houston, Texas 77003. A committal service will occur Thursday, January 2, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, TX 77023.
