Helen Hodnett Burns was born to William Howard Hodnett and Helen Katherine McCready in Houston Texas June 28, 1920 and passed away November 15, 2010.She grew up near Macgregor Drive close to the zoo, where she heard the animals. There were three parts of Mom's life. She married Bennett W. Burns and lived in Baytown.A member of Who's Who, she survived Hurricane Carla, where her youngest (William) saw her kill three water moccasins in the tub. The family moved to Houston and after Dad had a series of heart attacks, she went to UofH to get a Special Education degree. She worked in Dayton, Northshore and ended her career using "Burns Bucks" to encourage the students at Klein High School teaching special education students.A member of St. Ambrose Church. She was a cancer survivor and will be missed by her family and many friends.
