Helen Lee, 96, was welcomed into heaven on May 16, 2021. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, the former Helen Look was raised in Shanghai, China. After meeting and marrying Herbert Lee, they settled in Brooklyn, New York where she worked for U.S. Life Insurance Company. With news of a business opportunity in Houston from Herbert’s brother, Richard, they moved to Texas in the summer of 1954. Helen worked in the Courtesy Booth at the family business for several years and later worked for First City National Bank in Estate Planning for 20 years before retiring. Through the years, she enjoyed traveling adventures with her children to Disneyland, Yosemite, Arches, Mesa Verde, Redwood National Park, a Caribbean family cruise, New Orleans, Colorado Springs, Pagosa Springs, Maui, London, and as far away as Hong Kong. Helen was devoted to her family and loved to attend many of her grandchildren and great grandchildren’s concerts, plays, sporting events as well as sewing dresses, prom dresses, shirts and costumes for them. In addition, she enjoyed the relationships and support of the Bible Study Fellowship group at the Champion Forest Baptist Church. We are thankful that we were blessed with her thoughtful nature, love for food (especially apple pie), and for making everyone’s favorite banana cream pie and egg rolls. Her memory will be cherished by her children, Ronald Lee, Steven Lee and Deborah Lee; Ronald’s wife Cynthia and their children, Margaret and Matthew; Steven’s wife, Laurie and their daughters, Casey, Christen and Mackenzie; Casey’s husband Jean Marc Brice and their children, Nyah & Jayce; Christen’s husband Matt Scantlin and their children Bailey and Tatum; Deborah’s children Lauren and Austin; and the many loving nieces and nephews in Texas, the Northeast and California. She is preceded in death by her parents Canpon & Ma She Look; brothers, Walter & Frank; sisters, Jeanette, Anna & Bessie.
