Helen E. Merrill born on November 27, 1938, went to be with her Lord & Savior on September 25, 2010. She was very fond of oil painting, cooking for her family and friends and also gardening. Helen was very involved with her community. She worked with the Houston Police Department by opening store front substations and she also became the president of the community association. She was active in helping with the election polls and was presented with the Yellow Rose of Texas award by former President George W. Bush. Helen also loved her Lord and Savior and was a member of Memorial Baptist Church. She leaves to cherish her memories: daughter, Deborah Morton and husband Lin; grandson, Ethan Morton; sister, Jeannette Anderson and husband Ron; brother, Herbert H. Ellis; along with other loving relatives and friends. The family will receive friends at 11AM on Thursday, September 30, 2010 with Graveside Services following at 1PM in Brookside Memorial Park with Bro. Jim Godwin officiating.
