

Mrs. Helen H. Villarreal, beloved and cherished, passed away on March 10, 2026 at the age of 89. Born on August 3, 1936, in Galveston, Texas, Helen was a compassionate, kind-hearted, hard-working, faithful, loyal, brave, and honest woman whose life reflected quiet strength and enduring devotion. Helen resided in Texas City, Texas.
Helen was born and raised in Galveston, Texas.
In her younger years, Helen worked for Shriner's Hospital before later working for the Hitchcock School district. She also assisted her husband while he worked on the radio.
Helen married her loving husband, Enrique G. Villarreal, and they shared 40 years of marriage. They met at a dance, where they both enjoyed and shared a love of music—an early reflection of the companionship and warmth that would define their life together. Helen especially enjoyed spending time with her family, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Helen is survived by her husband, Enrique Villarreal; her daughters, Mary Helen Hernandez and Mary Ann Chavez; her sister, Rosie Pina; her brother, Ernesto Hernandez; Step-daughter Sandy Morales, Step-sons Jesse Villarreal, Enrique Villarreal Jr., and Daniel Villarreal, along with 18 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren.
Helen was preceded in death by her daughters, Minerva Martinez and Eva Robledo; and her sons, Martin Puentes and Adam Puentes, sisters Celia Graham and Irene Guzman, brothers Jesse Hernandez, Benny Hernandez, and Eleuterio Hernandez Jr.
