Born on January 9, 1947, Howard was a man of extraordinary vision, tireless determination, and genuine warmth — a devoted husband, a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and a pillar of his community.
Throughout his distinguished career, Howard demonstrated an entrepreneurial spirit that few could match. He founded and led several successful enterprises over the course of his lifetime, including News, Inc., Circular Processing, Inc., Fine Rides, Inc, Howard Greenwood Investments, Inc., CASDA, Brazoria Cable, Style & Paper, and The Fishing Pier in Port Isabel, Texas which he built. He even owned a night club in Baton Rouge in the 1970’s. Each endeavor reflected his drive, creativity, and unwavering commitment to excellence. His business acumen left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of working alongside him.
Beyond his professional achievements, Howard had a deep love for life’s simple pleasures. He was an avid fisherman who found joy and peace on the water, and he had a true passion for collecting classic cars and jukeboxes — each a reflection of his appreciation for craftsmanship and history. He was also an enthusiastic college football fan who never missed a game, and he had a love of dancing that brought energy and delight to all who were lucky enough to share the floor with him.
Howard is survived by his beloved wife, Nancy Greenwood, the steadfast companion of his life and the heart of his family. He leaves behind three sons: Matthew Greenwood; William Greenwood and his wife, Haley; and Walter Greenwood and his wife, Brandi. He was a proud grandfather to Kameron Greenwood, Lilli Greenwood, and Avery Greenwood, and a cherished great-grandfather to La’wren Greenwood and Ryder Greenwood. He is also survived by his brother, Dr. Gregory Greenwood DMD, and his loving dog, Abbey, each of whom will carry forward the legacy of his love and character.
He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Vandalia Mae Greenwood, and his father, Howard W. Greenwood, Sr.
