Huston Alon Lewis

Huston Lewis, 76, of Barnesville, Ohio, passed away on August 7th 2024 in Houston, Texas.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, September 20, 2024 at West University Baptist Church (WUBC), 6218 Auden Street with the Senior Pastor of WUBC, Dr. Roger Patterson, officiating. Burial will be in a private service for the family at Memorial Oaks Cemetery.

Huston was born in Barnesville, Ohio to Thomas and Janet Lewis on November 13th, 1947. He grew up in Barnesville Ohio where he learned to play French Horn. As he gained proficiency, he went to University of Colorado in Boulder, Colorado to master his art in Music and French Horn. He met and married Mary Hatch Lewis and moved to Houston, Texas, where the two raised their family. While in Houston, he carried his love of the French Horn with him, playing in a brass quartet at Palmer Memorial Episcopal Church.

He worked for several years as a distributor for the Houston Chronicle, before transitioning to become a real estate appraiser. Later in life, he changed focus and moved back to Colorado where he graduated with a Doctorate of Divinity at Iliff School of Theology. He served as a pastor at various churches in Denver before working as a Pastor at Denver Hospital, where he spent many years providing pastoral care for patients and their families, as well as at Denver Hospice. Eventually, Huston and Mary moved back to Houston to be closer to their grandchildren. Upon his arrival, he remained active as a Pastor where he served at All Saints Anglican Church and Holy Trinity Anglican Church. During this time, he was formally ordained as an Anglican priest, a calling he cherished until his retirement in 2022.

Huston is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Hatch Lewis. He is survived by his brother Jim Lewis, and Jim’s wife Carla, his stepson, Evan Fehsenfeld, and Evan’s wife, Jen, his stepson, Orin Lewis, and Orin’s wife, Lorraine, his son, Alon Lewis, and Alon’s wife, Mary, and his grandchildren, Drake, Shannon, and Zachary Lewis.
