Ida Mae Geer

Ida Mae Geer born on June 14, 1940 in Houston, Texas, the only child of Mamie Lena and John E. Westcott, passed away July 18. Ida graduated from Sam Houston High School in 1958, where she had many great memories and friends, connections she maintained her entire life.

After graduating, Ida started working for Dr. Francis Love, a very well respected optometrist in the Oak Forest neighborhood of Houston, as his optician assistant/office manager. Ida cherished this position for well over 40 years of her life and was treated as part of a bigger family.

She was a very active member of a church she was so very proud of, St. Stephen’s United Methodist Church. So many fond memories and a lifetime of friendships were made there. Ida was active in Sunday School classes, community groups, and many other parts of the life of the church.

Ida is survived by her three daughters, Christine Cummins (Keith), Karen Allen (Rolland) and Robin Beckner; grandchildren she would have moved heaven and earth for (Morgan, Tim, Hunter, Travis, Ryan and Kayla); a great grandson (she had a very special relationship with, Shaun); and her ever so loving dachshund, Molly.

A memorial service for Ida will be held Friday, August 2, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Pat H. Foley & Company, 1200 West 34th Street, Houston, Texas 77018.
