

Ida Mae Papillion was born March 27th, 1947 in Lawtell Louisiana to her loving parents Sidney Sr & Amy Victorian. At a young age she accepted Christ, as her Lord and Savior. Ida graduated from Lawtell High School aspiring to become a great wife and mother. Her nurturing spirit and huge heart lead her to the arms of her loving husband Nelson Papillion whom she married on April 8th, 1967. From that union they welcomed their daughters Bernadette and Demetual. Ida was a hard worker and a beloved figure to so many. With an open heart, she devoted her time and poured her love into every moment spent at Apple daycare. She nurtured and uplifted the children who filled her days with joy.
She enjoyed going to church, crocheting, dancing, baking, gardening and loved spending time with family. A true counselor to those around her, always putting others first and providing a listening ear. As her health started to decline in 1995, she was diagnosed with Wegener’s Granulomatosis which is a rare blood disease, that caused her to be on dialysis over 29 years. Ida found strength and comfort in the Lord until the end. With her unwavering spirit, Ida pressed forward. She never let her condition stop her. She embraced life with joy, courage, and unwavering faith, always prioritizing others and exemplifying incredible strength as a devoted prayer warrior, counselor, and cherished friend.
She is preceded in death by her Husband, Nelson Antoine Papillion; her Father, Sidney Victorian Sr; her Mother, Amy Victorian; Brothers, Joseph Lee, Jay Arthur, Michael Randall Victorian and Grand-daughter, Roxanna Robinson.
She leaves to cherish her memories daughters, Bernadette Lewis (Roderick Sr.), Demetual Ann Watts (Simon); grandson, Roderick Lewis Jr. (Ivan); granddaughters, Sasha Monae Papillion, Rainbow Lewis and London Simone Watts, Char’Meka, Toynika and Melanie Lewis; great-grandchildren, Ronald, Isaiah, Kyla, Zemirah, Ayden, Algernon, and Alexander; Brothers; Willie Victorian, Sidney Victorian Jr. (Lillie), John Kenneth Victorian, Rickey Victorian (Patricia), Sisters; Josie Victorian, Dolores Bellard (Larris), Gloria Papillion (Bobby), and a host of Aunts, sister in laws, brother in laws, nephews, nieces, other relatives and dear friends.
A visitation for Ida will be held Saturday, November 16, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Paradise Funeral Home, Inc, 10401 West Montgomery, Houston, TX 77088. The funeral service will immediately follow from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. The committal service will be held from 12:30 PM to 1:00 PM at Cemetery Beautiful, 8401 Wheatley St, Houston, TX 77088.
