Isidro Tamez Tamez

Mr. Isidro Tamez Sr. was born in 1930 in Allende, Nuevo León, Mexico, and immigrated to the United States as a young man in 1955 in search of opportunity and a better life. Through hard work, faith, and perseverance, he built a life rooted in love, family, and deep gratitude for the country he proudly called home.

He was married for 66 years to the love of his life, Elva Herrera Tamez, a partnership defined by devotion, laughter, and unwavering support. Together, they raised five children in the United States, instilling in them the values of education, integrity, faith, and perseverance. Education mattered deeply to Mr. Tamez. He wanted all of his children to be educated and prepared for life, and he took great pride in the successful careers and families they built.

Known lovingly as “Tito,” he was the proud grandfather of nine grandchildren and great-grandfather of four. His love for his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren was boundless. Family was the center of his world, and time spent together was his greatest joy.

Mr. Tamez worked for Houston Belt & Terminal for 30 years before retiring in 1993. Retirement marked a joyful new chapter in his life. With the weight of the world lifted, he embraced living fully, traveling throughout the United States and Mexico, participating in senior social clubs such as Ripley House, Hester House, and Los Abuelitos, and remaining active and engaged well into his later years.

He was a man of strong character and resilience. His children often joked that he had “nine lives,” having survived multiple serious falls, including head injuries and a broken hip. Despite physical challenges and the gradual loss of hearing and eyesight, nothing ever dampened his spirit. He continued to enjoy life to the fullest, greeting each day with humor, gratitude, and faith.

Mr. Tamez was known for his sense of humor and his love of telling jokes. He truly thought he was hilarious, and those around him couldn’t help but smile. He faithfully watched “The Price Is Right”, a simple daily ritual that brought him joy. Above all, he was a God-fearing man and a devout Catholic who loved and appreciated life and believed firmly in the blessings he had been given.

As he aged, his strong exterior softened, revealing a gentle heart, deep affection, and profound appreciation for his family and life’s moments. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, resilience, and faith that will live on through generations.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Rita Tamez Tamez, Manuel Tamez Gonzalez, and his sister, Evelia Tamez Reynoso.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Elva Herrera Tamez; his sisters, Esther Tamez Treviño and Florinda Tamez Flores; his children: Isidro Tamez Jr. and wife Erika; Luis Manuel Tamez and wife Rebecca; Adriana Tamez Brock (Tommy Alan Brock†); Oscar Tamez and wife JoAnn; and Nancy Tamez Colorado and husband Manuel Colorado; his grandchildren, Jessica (Peter Lopata), Jacob (Veronica), Matthew, Alex, Kalista, Branden, Belén, Adam, and Elián; his great-grandchildren, Arianna, Ridge, Citlali, and Gabriel; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral arrangements:

Visitation and Rosary will be held on February 20, 2026 at Funeraria del Angel Crespo, 4136 Broadway Street, Houston, TX 77087 from 5p.m. to 9p.m. Funeral Mass will take place on February 21, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at Resurrection Catholic Church, 915 Zoe Street, Houston, TX 77020 at 10a.m., followed by burial at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery at noon.

Estuvo casado durante 66 años con el amor de su vida, Elva Herrera Tamez, una unión definida por la devoción, la alegría y un apoyo incondicional. Juntos criaron a cinco hijos en los Estados Unidos, inculcándoles los valores de la educación, la integridad, la fe y la perseverancia. La educación fue siempre de gran importancia para el Sr. Tamez. Deseaba que todos sus hijos estuvieran preparados para la vida y se sentía profundamente orgulloso de las exitosas carreras y familias que formaron.

Conocido cariñosamente como “Tito”, fue el orgulloso abuelo de nueve nietos y bisabuelo de cuatro. Su amor por su esposa, hijos, nietos y bisnietos fue inmenso. La familia fue el centro de su vida, y el tiempo compartido con ellos representó su mayor alegría.

El Sr. Tamez trabajó durante 30 años en Houston Belt & Terminal, hasta su jubilación en 1993. El retiro marcó un nuevo y feliz capítulo en su vida. Libre de preocupaciones, se dedicó a disfrutar plenamente, viajando por los Estados Unidos y México, participando en clubes sociales para personas mayores como Ripley House, Hester House y Los Abuelitos, y manteniéndose activo y comprometido incluso en sus últimos años.

Fue un hombre de carácter firme y gran resiliencia. Sus hijos solían bromear diciendo que tenía “nueve vidas”, ya que sobrevivió a múltiples caídas graves, incluidas lesiones en la cabeza y una fractura de cadera. A pesar de los desafíos físicos y de la pérdida gradual de la audición y la vista, nada logró apagar su espíritu. Continuó disfrutando la vida al máximo, recibiendo cada día con humor, gratitud y fe.

El Sr. Tamez era conocido por su gran sentido del humor y su amor por contar chistes. Verdaderamente se consideraba muy gracioso, y quienes lo rodeaban no podían evitar sonreír. Veía fielmente “The Price Is Right”, un sencillo ritual diario que le brindaba alegría. Por encima de todo, fue un hombre temeroso de Dios y un católico devoto que amó y valoró la vida, creyendo firmemente en las bendiciones que había recibido.

Con el paso de los años, su exterior fuerte se fue suavizando, revelando un corazón noble, un profundo afecto y una gran apreciación por su familia y por los momentos de la vida. Deja un legado de amor, risas, resiliencia y fe que perdurará a través de las generaciones.

Le precedieron en la muerte sus padres, Rita Tamez Tamez y Manuel Tamez González, así como su hermana, Evelia Tamez Reynoso.

Le sobreviven su amada esposa, Elva Herrera Tamez; sus hermanas, Esther Tamez Treviño y Florinda Tamez Flores; sus hijos, Isidro Tamez Jr. y su esposa Erika; Luis Manuel Tamez y su esposa Rebecca; Adriana Tamez Brock (†Tommy Alan Brock); Oscar Tamez y su esposa JoAnn; y Nancy Tamez Colorado y su esposo Manuel Colorado; sus nietos, Jessica (Peter Lopata), Jacob (Veronica), Matthew, Alex, Kalista, Branden, Belén, Adam y Elián; sus bisnietos, Arianna, Ridge, Citlali y Gabriel; así como numerosos primos, sobrinas, sobrinos y amigos/as

La velación y el rezo del Santo Rosario se llevarán a cabo el 20 de febrero en Funeraria del Ángel Crespo, ubicada en 4136 Broadway Street, Houston, TX 77087 a las 5 :00p.m. La Misa de Cuerpo Presente se celebrará el 21 de febrero a las 10:00 a.m. en la Iglesia Católica Resurrection, ubicada en 915 Zoe Street, Houston, TX 77020, seguida del sepelio en el Cementerio Forest Park Lawndale a mediodia
