loved life to the fullest while always committed to his wife and
family. He was a man grounded in the Christian teachings of faith,
hope and love.
J.M. was born and raised in the rural central Texas towns of Kosse
and Groesbeck. He attended Abilene Christian College, graduating
in 1940. While attending ACC, he met and married Kleta Belle (Skeet) Holt.
Shortly thereafter, he honorably served his country in Army Air Corp.
After the war, he and his bride settled in Houston, Texas to enter
business and where they remained to raise their growing family.
After the passing of his first wife, J.M. married Doris Stewart and
they spent thirty happy years together.
J.M. always had a wide range of interests in addition to the auto
supply business he established. He was involved in the activities
of his church, was a gourmet cook, loved fishing, reading and
especially travelling all over the world. J.M. inspired his family
and friends with his faith, his outgoing nature, and his winning
smile. He will be sorely missed but never forgotten.
J.M. is survived by his children Jana and David Clack of Argyle,
Texas, Stan and Sherria Smith of Houston, Texas, Lynn and
Laurie Smith of Crystal River, Florida, and Bob and Myra Snider
of Houston, Texas. Grandchildren include Lara and Pat Wadlington
of Coppell, Texas, Jamie and Kyle Roberts of Argyle, Texas, Dana
Dana and Bryan McCaleb of Keller, Texas, Ami Brigman of Frisco,
Texas, Leah and Louis Mexia of Houston, Texas, Ryan, Reid, and
Jay Snider of Houston, Texas, He was also survived by twelve
great grandchildren and brother, Travis and Maxine of Abilene, Texas.
Visitation with family and friends is to be held Sunday evening,
January 6 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Brookside Funeral Home
13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, Texas. Funeral services will be
held Monday, January 7, at 10:00 a.m. at Brookside.
