

Jack is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Nellie Butera, his son, Joey, and brother, Michael Butera. He is survived by his longtime partner and love of his life, Yvonne Avery, sister and Brother in law, Natalie and Anthony Saragusa. Children: son, Frank and Linda Butera, daughter, Jacqueline and Chris Chevreaux, son, Rodney, daughter Christina and Chris Lawson and daughter, Katie Butera. Grandchildren: Julia Armstrong and Chase Lawson, Anna Butera, Sophie and Olivia Chevreaux, and step grandchildren Jake and Chris Elston, Hannah and Haley Lawson.
Jack enjoyed a full and exciting life. He grew up in a family owned grocery business, Butera Brothers Supermarket for many years. He was a graduate of St. Thomas, class of '61. He pursued a lifelong career as a successful Industrial/Commercial Real Estate Broker with Brown, Butera & MacDougall. Capt. Jack was an avid Outdoorsman. He most enjoyed bow hunting, fishing, traveling to Alaska, Costa Rica, Belize and Key West with Yvonne and good friends. He was also a longtime member and dedicated supporter of CCA. He was involved with the HLSR BBQ Cook-Off (More or Less Cookers) for 25 years. He proudly upheld the tradition of making Italian sausage and Cuccidatas (Italian Christmas cookies) every Christmas holiday.
Rosary will be held in the Hunter Creek Chapel at Earthman Funeral Home at 8303 Katy Freeway, Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at 6-8 pm. To honor Jack's last wishes, a small funeral will be held on Saturday April 6, 2013 at 10:00 am at Our Lady of the Gulf, 415 W. Austin Street, Port Lavaca, Texas 77979 (361) 552-6140.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or MD Anderson Cancer Center, Lymphoma Division.
