

Jack Epps Cornelius passed peacefully surrounded by loved ones on July 8th, 2013 at the age of 87. Jack was born February 22nd, 1926 to Lloyd and Elsie (Epps) Cornelius in Blackwell, OK. Raised in Wichita, Kansas Jack went on to have a long and successful family life, business career, and retirement in Houston, Texas. After serving his country in the Navy, he graduated from the University of Kansas, where he met his future bride JoAnn Rossillon. As a geophysicist in the oil and gas industry Jack was a leader who earned the respect and admiration of his colleagues. Jack was a loving husband, devoted father, grandfather and great grandfather. Jack Cornelius was very proud of his family, and shared an exceptional love with his wife JoAnn for more than six decades. After all of the years of being married Jack and JoAnn still acted like lovesick teenagers in a manner that family and friends instantly recognized, admired, and respected. Jack Cornelius lived the American dream and was a success due to his quality of character, integrity, hard work, and the love of a great woman and family.
Jack is survived by his wife of 62 years, five children Susan Sizemore (Mike), Robert Cornelius (Jamie), Richard Cornelius (Geralyn), Barbara Minnick (Mark), and Judith Burch (Wade), ten grandchildren Ryan Luker (Margaret), Kristen Pomeroy (Matt), Courtney Heaton (Michael), Reed Cornelius, Austin Cornelius, Andrew Minnick (Pam), Audrey Sillivent (Brady), Eric Minnick, Lindsey Burch and Hannah Burch and 5 great-grandchildren.
Memorial service will be held at 9:30 am on Wednesday, July 10th at Parkway Chapel (1321 Park Bayou Dr. Houston, TX 77077). In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Macular Vision Research Foundation http://www.mvrf.org or St Francis de Sales Parish http://www.sfdshouston.org.
