2 Corinthians 5:8 "We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord". Beloved husband, father, grandpa, brother, and best friend Jack Morris, peacefully went to the Lord Monday, September 5, 2011 in Houston, Texas after his battle with cancer.
Jack's colorful life began September 12, 1934 in Fifty Six, Arkansas. He was raised in Olney Springs, Colorado where he worked as a farmer starting at the ripe old age of 5. He graduated from Olney Springs High School where he played baseball and basketball and led his team to the Colorado State Championship in basketball. He later received a basketball scholarship and attended Pueblo Junior College until being drafted into the Army in 1956. Jack met his loving wife of 52 years in Houston, Texas during his time in the armed forces. While living in Pueblo, Colorado Jack worked at the steel mill while also perfecting his skills as a wood worker/craftsman. He returned to Houston in 1969 and soon founded his company M&M Wood Products where he worked until his retirement in 2009.
He loved his life, and told the most wonderful stories until the end. While he was the hardest worker we've ever known, he felt the most important thing to him was his family. He was a generous, kind, selfless man who was loved by everyone that knew him. Jack was preceded in death by his mother, father, four brothers, and his son, Richard. He is survived by his wife Mary Lou; sister, Virginia McCleary; daughters, Deborah Thompson, Colleen McKeon; son, John Morris; as well as his nine grandchildren whom he adored, Marlena, Kayla, Bond, Mason, Clayton, Jacqueline, Tess, Jack, and Pierce.
Please join the family in a celebration of his life. The visitation will be Thursday, September 8, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, 13001 Katy Freeway near Eldridge. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, September 9, 2011 at Memorial Drive Christian Church 11750 Memorial Drive near Bunker Hill.
Private burial will take place in Big Flat, Arkansas.
