Christ as His Savior, was baptized, and therefore received the seal of redemption on November
11, 2006. Jackson passed into eternity on August 8, 2020, but we find comfort in knowing that
by Christ’s mercy and grace, he is with his Heavenly Father.
Jackson, a vibrant and talented young man, is cherished by his family and friends and will be
held dear in their hearts until they are reunited again. We give thanks for Jackson’s life and
know that we are better for having had him in ours. He had a way of engaging in conversations
that one was usually unprepared for, but always making one dig a little deeper into the subject
he thought was necessary to talk about.
While Jackson loved learning, he did not enjoy the rigors of a school schedule. Thankfully,
because of early high SAT scores, he was able to participate in the Duke Tip program for
talented and gifted students for three years and, despite many other activities, those 3 weeks
were the highlight of those summers. He graduated from Memorial High School in 2017 and
attended University of Texas at Dallas. Most recently, he was employed at Honda Cars of Katy.
Jackson was a talented artist and musician, and had recently taken up piano lessons again. As
a child, he participated in Day Jams summer camps demonstrating his musical talent and also
attended Camp Ozark many summers showing his love of the outdoors. He was creative and
drawing was a big passion with anime being his favorite subject. He was also an avid reader
and flew through many book series, usually several times through. He and his family loved to
travel, and as he got older, he would enjoy picking out the things he wanted to do, such as when
visiting London, the first thing on the itinerary was to ride the London Eye because he had read
about it. Most recently his passion and biggest form of fun was participating in live action role
playing (LARPing) with his closest friends.
Jackson was a generous, kind, and thoughtful young man and he loved sharing what he had
with others. His most favorite thing was to call his parents to ask permission to pay for
something for his friends.
His dad loved teaching him to be a skillful handyman and he was not only great at fixing things,
but could put anything together, including furniture from IKEA. He learned how to change tires,
clean gutters, and paint the house.
Jackson was a light in our lives and will be missed by all who took the time to get to know him.
He is survived by his parents Dianna and Tom Tyrrell, his beloved brother Vincent of Houston,
Texas, his paternal grandmother Laurie Gregg of Connecticut, his paternal grandfather David
Tyrrell (Nancy) of Connecticut, and two uncles Peter Tyrrell (Anne) and Michael Tyrrell, and a
cousin, Nick Azzara, also of Connecticut. He also is survived by his Aunt Sharon Stephenson
(Dave) in Georgia, and cousins Michelle, Renee, Joshua, and Sarah Stephenson. Jackson will
be missed by many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He is preceded in death by his maternal
grandparents Jack and Lois Williams of Arkansas.
Friends are invited to visitation with the family from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Wednesday, August 12, 2020 in The Chapel at Houston’s First Baptist Church, 7401 Katy Freeway, Houston, TX 77024. Following a private Graveside service a Memorial service will be at 2:00 pm on Thursday, August 13, 2020 in The Worship Center at Houston’s First Baptist Church, With Pastor Gregg Matte officiating.
