Jacqueline Banatwala (Jacquie), beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 31, 2025, at the age of 82. Born on April 16, 1943, Jacquie lived a life full of adventure, service, and love.
She proudly served as a nurse in the United States Navy, dedicating her skills and compassion to caring for others. Her life was marked by a spirit of exploration—she traveled the world, living in
England, Trinidad, and Malaysia, and visiting dozens of countries across six continents. These experiences enriched her life and the lives of those around her.
Jacquie settled in Houston, Texas, where she and her devoted husband, Zainuddin Banatwala (deceased September 11, 2024), built a loving home and raised three children. Married for 56
wonderful years, Jacquie and Zainuddin shared a bond that was an inspiration to all who knew them.
Once her children were grown, Jacquie continued her calling in healthcare, working at Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston, Texas, where she earned the affectionate title of “Queen
of Stepdown” for her expertise and leadership.
In retirement, Jacquie embraced the tranquility of a lakefront home in Crockett, Texas, where she enjoyed gardening, crafting, and the beauty of nature.
Jacquie was deeply involved in her community, actively participating in the Order of the Eastern Star
and the Daughters of the American Revolution, organizations that reflected her values of service and heritage. Her kindness, generosity, and vibrant spirit touched countless lives.
She is survived by her three children and their spouses: Tehmina and Andrew Gladman, Saleem and Leslie Banatwala, and Marissa and James Curry; and five cherished grandchildren: Paul, Elizabeth,
and Isaac Curry, and Ryan and Camryn Banatwala. Her legacy of love, curiosity, and service will live on through them.
Jacquie will be remembered for her unwavering devotion to family and her adventurous heart. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
