"Well done, good and faithful servant..." – Matthew 25:23
With profound sorrow and deep love, we celebrate the life of Jahson DeMonte Gibbs, who was
born on August 7, 2001, in Houston, Texas, to John B. Gibbs and Jaqueline D.
Johnson-Gibbs. Jahson departed this life on May 3, 2025, leaving behind a legacy marked by
faith, joy, service, and love.
Jahson accepted Christ into his life at an early age and held a deep, personal relationship with
God throughout his journey. He was a proud and devoted member of The Life Church
Houston, under the leadership of Pastor Marcus John Whittaker, where he found strength,
purpose, and community.
A proud graduate of Kashmere High School, Class of 2019, Jahson went on to serve his
community as a security guard, where he was known for greeting everyone with a warm smile
and contagious laughter. Whether working for various security companies or providing private
duty services, Jahson performed his work with excellence, always ready to protect and uplift
others. His presence brought safety, joy, and light wherever he served.
Jahson had an unshakable love for life, kids, family, and football. Known as the LIFE OF THE
PARTY, his passion for dancing and bringing joy to others was unmatched. He never hesitated
to help someone in need—offering the very shirt off his back or the shoes from his feet without a
second thought. His generous spirit and magnetic personality made him unforgettable.
Jahson was one of the founders of The Northside Bills Football Team, a youth organization
built not just around the game but around a mission that focused on the kids beyond the
field. He was more than a coach—he was a father figure, mentor, and protector who always
put the needs of his players above his own. His guidance shaped countless young lives, and his
impact will be felt for generations.
In addition to his role as a coach and mentor, Jahson also served diligently as a member of the
Sons of Light Grand Council AASRM & Ionic Lodge #112, demonstrating leadership, loyalty,
and brotherhood.
Jahson was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Jaqueline D. Johnson-Gibbs, and his
big brother, Joshua D. Johnson, both of whom he loved deeply and who welcomed him into
eternal peace.
He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted father, John B. Gibbs; his loving sister, Jocelyn
Johnson; and two nephews whom he adored, Jaiden and Jace Robinson. He is also
remembered fondly by a host of family members, close friends, lodge brothers, football players,
and all those whose lives were touched by his presence.
Though his time on earth was brief, Jahson’s spirit continues to shine brightly in the hearts of all
who knew him. His legacy of love, laughter, mentorship, and faith will never be forgotten.
A visitation for Jahson will be held Saturday, May 17, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Greater New Hope Church, 10505 Bainbridge St, Houston, TX 77016. Following the visitation will be a funeral from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM at Paradise Funeral Home, Inc, 10401 West Montgomery, Houston, TX 77088.
