

James Edward Burley was born December 21, 1942 in Weimar, Texas to Wilma Mae Spann and Sherrell Burley. James accepted Christ at an early age at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor M. M. Bland. James graduated from Weimar High School in Weimar, Texas. After graduating, he moved to Houston, Texas. He retired from Cemex U.S.A. INC. He united with New Hope Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Peirson. In 1980 he united with Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church under Pastor J. C. Van Dyke. In 2001, James united with the Holy Land Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Fletcher Jones, where he was a faithful member until his death. On Wednesday, September 19, 2012, at 11:05 AM, he departed this life at his home. James and Lillie Mae married July 25, 1985, there were no children in this marriage. James was preceded in death by his parents; one sister Fannie Eaglin and two brothers Herbert Gaston and Charles Gaston. James leaves to cherish his memory: his loving wife Lillie Mae Burley; his brother Willard Gaston, Jr.; stepsons Alvin Jones (Sandra), Craig Jones, Kenny Murray (Constance); his aunts Margie Burley and Jewel Williams (Robert); his stepmother Madelyn Burley; three half brothers Keith Burley (Doris), Bruce Burley (Helen) and Jesse Howard (Kay); brothers and sisters-in-law O. B. Jones, Gracie Lewis (Lumis), Elbert Jones, Fletcher Jones (Mary), James Jones (Alma) and Nettie Burks; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. We will miss James saying (I Know That's Right) and (I Heard That).
