James (Jim) Ellis passed away, unexpectedly, at his home, on March 13, 2017. Jim was a unique and loving man, who has touched so many people, either personally or professionally. As owner and President of Ecosse Inc., he provided his fire set instrument to the Oil and Gas community.
Jim was born in Edinburgh, Scotland on September 9, 1953, to Charles and Violet Ellis, who preceded him in death. His brother, Alex Ellis passed away in August, 2016. Jim is survived by his brother Archie Ellis, sister Margaret Brown and her husband Douglas, niece Donna and nephews Allan and Colin. He was also Great Uncle to Brooke, Finley, Blake, Troy and Cain.
Jim (Jimbo) made the move to Houston in 1985, while working for Western Atlas. At that time, he was befriended by the Humphrey family, and has served for nearly 32 years as dear friend, to Chris and Timaree Humphrey, bonus Dad to Jessica Rushing and her wife Shanna, and Cole Humphrey and his wife Amber. He adored and absolutely doted on his ‘grandchildren’ Ava Hope and Grayson Wayne Cruey, and Brinley Michelle Humphrey.
He is also survived by his very good friend, Michael Dandini and his wife Tish, his parents Mike and Cindy, and sister Jessica Fleming and her husband, Aaron.
While we have yet to come to terms with the sudden loss of Jim, his light will always shine brightly in the many memories we have all had the honor, and pleasure, to have made with him.
Please join us to celebrate Jim’s life on Saturday, March 25th at 10:00 am, at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home and Cemetery, 13001 Katy Freeway, Houston, Texas 77079 (281) 368-6214. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to http://bearesourcehouston.org/ , a favorite charity of Jim’s.
