I taught next door to Jim for many years before I decided to move to Washington state back in 1979.  He helped me build a deck on my house in Fairview Hts. I know what you must be feeling Sharon as I lost my wife Cynthia to cancer 8 years ago.

To the Gregg family,
I just learned of Jim's passing yesterday while visiting a mutual friend and co-worker. I so enjoyed Jim's dry sense of humor and loved teasing him about his khaki pant wardrobe. In return, he found plenty of things about me to make comments about. I know it will take you a long time to adjust to his absence. May you remember all the good times and all his good qualities.

Words cannot express the sorrow that I feel for the loss of my brother-in-law. Jim and Sharon were soul mates and will remain soul mates throughout eternity. They shared a love for travel and adventure as kindred spirits exploring nature all around the world. This will be a stressful time for my sister and her family, but I know they will find comfort knowing that Jim loved them and provided a wonderful home and life for them.  They have many memories to share and recall.  They have been through good times and bad times, but always loved and cared for each other.  I will miss you, Jim. It was so good to talk with him and catch up on "old" times. We worked together many years at Hastings and had many laughs.  I am very blessed to have had him for a friend.

When I first started working for Dave, every time I saw Jim he would say hello, but he sure did not smile very often.  I thought he was pretty gruff and intimidating...all business.  I made it a personal goal to break through that façade and make him smile.  I began calling him "Perky".  He would laugh each time.  Never again did I think of Jim as gruff!

He really enjoyed going on the internet looking for interesting places to go and things to do. He would always give me a run down on what he found. I loved all of my classes with Mr. Gregg.  I still use my shorthand skills to this day!  He was a nice man and I remember that he used to call us by our last name...LOL.  May you find comfort in knowing how many student's lives he enriched.  RIP Mr Gregg.

Sharon and family, I am so sorry for your great loss. Jim was a very nice man, and I have many fond memories of staying at your home when Carrie and I were in school together. I remember how much he loved Willie Nelson :) I also remember you and Jim taking my brother Deric and I to Johnson Space Center prior to our move to Orlando, Florida. We had such a great time, and believe it or not, I have now lived in Orlando for over 30+ years now, and still I have not been to Kennedy Space Center!!! Sharon, I am so saddened by the loss of Jim. He would always call me when he needed a retiree's phone number and especially to tell me about all of your many travels.  He would tell me that Steve and I needed to go here and there. At other tmes we would talk about how much we missed Dave. Jim had such love for his family. He will be missed. I pray that God comforts your heart and that your many memories bring to you a smile.
