Cynthia, Linda, Lorayne and family, I find these words most difficult to write. I first met Jim in 1990 when we worked at Conoco.  I soon learned Jim’s life was dedicated to Cynthia.  I admired that dedication the most about Jim.  We worked together a couple of years and parted ways as contractors often do, but continued our friendship.  Then one day he told me about a certain Linda he thought the world of.  Jim was a happier Jim, if that was possible and after he returned home to Texas with Linda I learned why.  Linda, you’re the greatest. 

Anybody who drinks Lone Star Beer belongs in Texas and Jim was a true native-born Lone Star beer drinking Texan.  A proud Texan who appreciated our heritage, a proud heritage we share.  Jim knew Texas.  We discussed much Texas history over Lone Star and Corona beers. 
 
Words cannot express the shock I felt when he told me of the cancer and sorrow when Linda informed me of his passing.  Jim, I miss that laugh and smile of yours on every picture here.

Cynthia, your daddy was the greatest and so proud of you.

Dear Lin, Cynthia, Nolan & Josh

I want to express my condolences to all of you on your loss of Jim; a husband, a father and a grandfather who will always have a place in your hearts.  His laughter was infectious and his smile was one of the most endearing things about him.  When he laughed, everyone laughed with him; when he smiled, everyone smiled with him.  He was a pure soul who endured much more than most people, without complaining and accepting what God handed him.

Jim was a very sweet, caring man with a big heart and a great sense of humor. He had a smile as big as the sky and a hearty laugh to go with it. His hospitable nature and willingness to help people and volunteer his service will always be remembered. God bless him.

Dear Linda,
 
"I'm sorry" are not enough words to let you know how terrible we feel about the pain you and Jim have both suffered during the past three months.  If words could describe it, you know we would say them to you.
 
Jim will be missed throughout the rest of your life, but think of the good times and that should bring you some pleasure and peace.  Although your times together were short, I'm sure you have many private times that will be with you everlastingly.
 
The day before Jim caught his sailfish in Cancun I asked him what were his predictfions for fishing the next day.  He took a puff of his cigarette and a swig of beer and said "Billlllll (that long drawn out drawl we came to love), you know there's a full moon tonight and they'll be full of baitfish, so they won't hit tomorrow.  Well, you know he caught a pretty good sized sailfish the next day and when I questioned him about his theory, his reply was -- "they aren't too smart down here."
 
To Cynthia, Josh and Nolan, our sorrow is extended to you also.   I think the proudest times in Jim's life were when you and Josh were married, Nolan was born, and Cynthia graduated from the Coast Guard Academy.
 
And lastly, to Larayne, Wes and Roger for being there for you under such exceptionally sad times.

Jim was one of my first massage/chiropractic patients. Jim was such a happy go-lucky guy.. He always loved to give me a very hard time. Jim could tell at good story like NO one I will ever know. Jim and Linda both have meant so much to me..I was heartbroken to hear of Jim's passing. Jim will be very missed by all who knew him. Linda my thoughts and prayers are with you.

Jim was a great guy to work with, and when I heard he had an accident during the Kracke-Gober years, and needed blood, I donated a pint and left him a message telling him that now he was part mexican....he really enjoyed that one. He was more than just a neighbor to us, to know Jim Goade was to be his friend, He was just that type of person, always had something good to say and a way to make you laugh. This world will miss him, but he of us has earned to move on to a better place.

 My first day in as a contract drafter at Gulf Interstate Engineering I had the fortune being assigned of sitting next to Jim. Our drafting manager at the time was Danny Reed. Chief Engineer: Mr. Jim Light.  Rookie Engineer: Dan Evans; now president of Gulf Interstate Engineering. I can and will go on.
 I went to my first day of work on a 1978 Harley-Davidson Super Glide with a briefcase strapped to the rear fender. (Jim & Mike could ride.)
 Because my life as a white collar worker would change.
 Jim strolls in and or around the office. You could tell he was a veteran of the oil/gas business. Between Jim, Mike Wilson and Michael Milner these guys were the â€œGo To Teamâ€ on the Alyeska Pipeline from Prudhoe Bay to Fairbanks. 1981-1982.

 My second day at work, Jim and Mike asked me if I wanted to go to lunch and ride down to Memorial Park.  Jim on this chopped (900 maxed out, Honda, BLACK OF COURSE and Mike Wilson on this Fuel injected Harley.. okey-doke . I'm the new kid on the block. 
 6 Stop-lights later we stop and I hear them say, â€œ Hey man, we had to ruin good brakes and wear out our heels to wait for you.â€  Like I said, (Jim & Mike could/can ride.)
As Robert Earl Keene sings..â€ Rolling hard, fast, Rolling fast, Rolling by.â€

 I worked proudly with Jim at other offices. Mustang Engineering, (Jim was the As- Built Field Consultant on the BP Matagorda Bay Project. (From Survey to Start-up. 1998)  Also,  El Paso Natural Gas, 2000. (Flagship Project) 
 Jim was â€œold schoolâ€, and he knew the pipeline business inside and out. Much respected. What a treasure to work with him.

I worked with Jim at PPI Technologies a few years back. He was just a great guy to be around and talk with. Although I didn't know his family, I felt like I knew ya'll. He will be greatly missed in the design community.

Jim has been my friend for near 30 years and I will miss greatly the friendship which we have shared as will anyone who like me knew him well. I wish that I could take it all away for you or that there was something to say or do to make it all better. Linda, my heart breaks with you in the loss of your beloved husband and best friend - words seem almost inadequate to explain. I know when you loose someone that you love it is like a piece of you is taken away with them and your life will never be the same, and in a way I believe this to be true BUT I also believe with all of my heart, soul and being that our loved ones live on IN us everyday in who we are and that we honor their lives in the way that we live our own lives each day. I think one of the most touching things in the world is that Jim left this life peacefully, in his sleep, free of pain and both embracing and being embraced by the love of his life. Who could ask for a better way to go? It makes me cry every time I think about it and I pray to God that someday I would be so privileged as to leave this life in such a manner. I am so thankful that I was able to see him and visit with him for a few minutes recently and to hug his neck. My most heartfelt sympathies and prayers go out to you and your family.

Jim will always be remembered by many driving around in his Vette accompanied by Spike. Jim and Spike were such buddies.  Jim couldn't go anywhere without Spike being at his side.

Jim was a wonderful person, he had us in stitches on July 04, and was supposed to join us for the end of the year traditional Thanksgiving. As I write this note of condolence, I have to reflect on what a cool guy I thought Jim was. I was his brother in law along time ago when we were so very young and my beautiful niece was in the works. Soon after that Jim was involved in his terrible motorcycle accident and I remember how he was in the hospital cutting jokes and poking fun at his friends while in terrible pain. He had a zest for life that was magnetic. He was a neat person to me. God Bless ya Jim-Bo you are where we all aspire to be right there with the Father. We Love and miss ya very much and I pray that the spirit of the Lord will be in the Hearts of all of us who Grieve our loss.
