Cynthia, Linda, Lorayne and family, I find these words most difficult to write. I first met Jim in 1990 when we worked at Conoco. I soon learned Jim’s life was dedicated to Cynthia. I admired that dedication the most about Jim. We worked together a couple of years and parted ways as contractors often do, but continued our friendship. Then one day he told me about a certain Linda he thought the world of. Jim was a happier Jim, if that was possible and after he returned home to Texas with Linda I learned why. Linda, you’re the greatest.

Anybody who drinks Lone Star Beer belongs in Texas and Jim was a true native-born Lone Star beer drinking Texan. A proud Texan who appreciated our heritage, a proud heritage we share. Jim knew Texas. We discussed much Texas history over Lone Star and Corona beers.

Words cannot express the shock I felt when he told me of the cancer and sorrow when Linda informed me of his passing. Jim, I miss that laugh and smile of yours on every picture here.

Cynthia, your daddy was the greatest and so proud of you.

God Bless Jim and Texas

Dear Lin, Cynthia, Nolan & Josh

I want to express my condolences to all of you on your loss of Jim; a husband, a father and a grandfather who will always have a place in your hearts. His laughter was infectious and his smile was one of the most endearing things about him. When he laughed, everyone laughed with him; when he smiled, everyone smiled with him. He was a pure soul who endured much more than most people, without complaining and accepting what God handed him.

I will miss his smile and laughter and he will not be forgotten in my eyes. You all will always be in my heart and prayers. May God strengthen and guide you in the future. With utmost sympathy, Dee

Jim was a very sweet, caring man with a big heart and a great sense of humor. He had a smile as big as the sky and a hearty laugh to go with it. His hospitable nature and willingness to help people and volunteer his service will always be remembered. God bless him.

Dear Linda,

"I'm sorry" are not enough words to let you know how terrible we feel about the pain you and Jim have both suffered during the past three months. If words could describe it, you know we would say them to you.

Jim will be missed throughout the rest of your life, but think of the good times and that should bring you some pleasure and peace. Although your times together were short, I'm sure you have many private times that will be with you everlastingly.

The day before Jim caught his sailfish in Cancun I asked him what were his predictfions for fishing the next day. He took a puff of his cigarette and a swig of beer and said "Billlllll (that long drawn out drawl we came to love), you know there's a full moon tonight and they'll be full of baitfish, so they won't hit tomorrow. Well, you know he caught a pretty good sized sailfish the next day and when I questioned him about his theory, his reply was -- "they aren't too smart down here."

To Cynthia, Josh and Nolan, our sorrow is extended to you also. I think the proudest times in Jim's life were when you and Josh were married, Nolan was born, and Cynthia graduated from the Coast Guard Academy.

And lastly, to Larayne, Wes and Roger for being there for you under such exceptionally sad times.

Love Always,

Your Brother Billy, Shirley

and Uncle Bill and Aunt Shirley

Dear Aunt Linda, Cynthia, and family: Please accept our sincere condolences on your loss. May God bless you all, and may the many fond memories of Jim you hold dear in your heart help you through this difficult time. We are always here for you. Love, Joe, Mary, Danielle & Jamie Ersalesi

Jim was one of my first massage/chiropractic patients. Jim was such a happy go-lucky guy.. He always loved to give me a very hard time. Jim could tell at good story like NO one I will ever know. Jim and Linda both have meant so much to me..I was heartbroken to hear of Jim's passing. Jim will be very missed by all who knew him. Linda my thoughts and prayers are with you.

Dear Linda and Cynthia,
Our very deepest sympathy to you all. Jim was a husband, father and now grandfather...how lucky you were to have shared his life and we're sure that he would have felt the same. You were everything to him. He was a lucky man, indeed. In every photo of him we notice his mile-wide smile. His joy of life...family...cars...bar-b-q's...brought such joy and smiles to others.

He'll be remembered and missed by all those he touched.
Our Love , David, Kathy and girls

Jim was a great guy to work with, and when I heard he had an accident during the Kracke-Gober years, and needed blood, I donated a pint and left him a message telling him that now he was part mexican....he really enjoyed that one. And as for his cooking, he proved the lie of "Don't eat what a skinny cook prepares", Jim could cook to a fare-thee-well........ Eli R. Fredericksburg Texas

He was more than just a neighbor to us, to know Jim Goade was to be his friend, He was just that type of person, always had something good to say and a way to make you laugh. This world will miss him, but he of us has earned to move on to a better place.
Linda our thoughts and prayers are with you.

My first day in as a contract drafter at Gulf Interstate Engineering I had the fortune being assigned of sitting next to Jim. Our drafting manager at the time was Danny Reed. Chief Engineer: Mr. Jim Light. Rookie Engineer: Dan Evans; now president of Gulf Interstate Engineering. I can and will go on.
I went to my first day of work on a 1978 Harley-Davidson Super Glide with a briefcase strapped to the rear fender. (Jim & Mike could ride.)
Because my life as a white collar worker would change.
Jim strolls in and or around the office. You could tell he was a veteran of the oil/gas business. Between Jim, Mike Wilson and Michael Milner these guys were the “Go To Team” on the Alyeska Pipeline from Prudhoe Bay to Fairbanks. 1981-1982.

My second day at work, Jim and Mike asked me if I wanted to go to lunch and ride down to Memorial Park. Jim on this chopped (900 maxed out, Honda, BLACK OF COURSE and Mike Wilson on this Fuel injected Harley.. okey-doke . I'm the new kid on the block.
6 Stop-lights later we stop and I hear them say, “ Hey man, we had to ruin good brakes and wear out our heels to wait for you.” Like I said, (Jim & Mike could/can ride.)
As Robert Earl Keene sings..” Rolling hard, fast, Rolling fast, Rolling by.”

I worked proudly with Jim at other offices. Mustang Engineering, (Jim was the As- Built Field Consultant on the BP Matagorda Bay Project. (From Survey to Start-up. 1998) Also, El Paso Natural Gas, 2000. (Flagship Project)
Jim was “old school”, and he knew the pipeline business inside and out. Much respected. What a treasure to work with him.

God Bless Texas,
God Bless America,
God Bless You, & your family in your time of need, my friend,

Linda,
I am so very sorry to hear of your loss. I enjoyed meeting Jim and remember him fondly. You are in my prayers.

Linda,
Our heartfelt sympathy goes out to you and your family in the loss of your star, Jim. It was our pleasure to meet him in Vancouver. He certainly made you happy. Bless you, sweetie, we love you.

I worked with Jim at PPI Technologies a few years back. He was just a great guy to be around and talk with. Although I didn't know his family, I felt like I knew ya'll. He will be greatly missed in the design community.
May God be with you during this time.

We are going to miss our talks and our fishing buddy. We will never forget you. You remain in our daily prayers. Love, Frank and Mary

Your friend is your needs answered.
He is your field which you sow with love and reap with thanksgiving.
And he is your board and your fireside.
For you come to him with your hunger, and you seek him for peace.

When your friend speaks his mind you fear not the "nay" in your own mind, nor do you withhold the "ay."
And when he is silent your heart ceases not to listen to his heart;
For without words, in friendship, all thoughts, all desires, all expectations are born and shared, with joy that is unacclaimed.
When you part from your friend, you grieve not;
For that which you love most in him may be clearer in his absence, as the mountain to the climber is clearer from the plain.
And let there be no purpose in friendship save the deepening of the spirit.
For love that seeks aught but the disclosure of its own mystery is not love but a net cast forth: and only the unprofitable is caught.

And let your best be for your friend.
If he must know the ebb of your tide, let him know its flood also.
For what is your friend that you should seek him with hours to kill?
Seek him always with hours to live.
For it is his to fill your need, but not your emptiness.
And in the sweetness of friendship let there be laughter, and sharing of pleasures.
For in the dew of little things the heart finds its morning and is refreshed.

Jim has been my friend for near 30 years and I will miss greatly the friendship which we have shared as will anyone who like me knew him well. To Linda, Cynthia and Josh you have my most heartfelt sympathy for your loss and as mentioned if there's anything you need please don't hesitate to call me. Will see you all on the 29th.

All my love,

Cynthia, Extending my most heartfelt sympathies in the loss of your father. My heart cries with you. I wish that I could take it all away for you or that there was something to say or do to make it all better. I know though, as does anyone who knew you and your family, that you were the light of your daddy's life - he loved you so much and was so proud of you - of the beautiful person that you are both inside and out, of the wonderful and successful life that you have made for yourself, and of course for providing him with his precious grandson Nolan. I know that this is one of the hardest times in life for you and your family, but I also know that your daddy had a strength and a fight within him unmatched by many - and you have that same strength within you as well - honor his life with your own everyday in who you are and the way that you live your own daily life. Smile knowing that he is watching you everyday just as proud as always, and will be waiting for you at the gates of Heaven when you will all one day be reunited. Many prayers and hugs for you and your family.

Linda, my heart breaks with you in the loss of your beloved husband and best friend - words seem almost inadequate to explain. I know when you loose someone that you love it is like a piece of you is taken away with them and your life will never be the same, and in a way I believe this to be true BUT I also believe with all of my heart, soul and being that our loved ones live on IN us everyday in who we are and that we honor their lives in the way that we live our own lives each day. I think one of the most touching things in the world is that Jim left this life peacefully, in his sleep, free of pain and both embracing and being embraced by the love of his life. Who could ask for a better way to go? It makes me cry every time I think about it and I pray to God that someday I would be so privileged as to leave this life in such a manner. I am so thankful that I was able to see him and visit with him for a few minutes recently and to hug his neck. My most heartfelt sympathies and prayers go out to you and your family.

Jim will always be remembered by many driving around in his Vette accompanied by Spike. Jim and Spike were such buddies. Jim couldn't go anywhere without Spike being at his side.

Linda, our thoughts and prayers are with you. We are thankful for your visit last year. We love you......

Gloria & Richard

Linda - Please accept our most heartfelt sympathies for your loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with you right now. Love, Carol, Ernie, Nikki and Sean

As I write this note of condolence, I have to reflect on what a cool guy I thought Jim was. I was his brother in law along time ago when we were so very young and my beautiful niece was in the works. Soon after that Jim was involved in his terrible motorcycle accident and I remember how he was in the hospital cutting jokes and poking fun at his friends while in terrible pain. He had a zest for life that was magnetic. He was a neat person to me. God Bless ya Jim-Bo you are where we all aspire to be right there with the Father. We Love and miss ya very much and I pray that the spirit of the Lord will be in the Hearts of all of us who Grieve our loss. Our God is a Great God who has the power to over come our earthly pains and we all have to place our faith in our Fathers hands he is the Great comforter in our time of need Amen. Billy Pickett
