December 13, 1962 – October 6, 2025
James Lunas Juat was a man whose heart overflowed with faith, kindness, and quiet strength. Born in the Philippines on December 13, 1962, James built a life rooted in love — love for his family, his faith, and the simple joys that filled his days.
James received his Doctorate in Dentistry in 1992 from Manila Central University. Throughout his young adult life he was a faithful leader in the United Methodist Church in the Philippines and then in the States, was a member of Braeswood Church Assemblies of God in Houston, TX. James is preceded by his father, Crisolito Juat and survived by his mother, Helen Lunas Juat and his wife, Ruth; his sons, James Wesley and Joshua Aaron; his two sisters, Gemma and Elvie — all who love him deeply and will forever miss his warmth, wisdom, and constant presence in their lives.
James was happiest surrounded by his family, especially his beloved wife, Ruth, and their two sons, James Wesley and Joshua Aaron. He took pride in being a husband and father, often finding joy in the everyday moments — cooking for his family, tending to his garden, or singing along to his favorite songs. He may not have always stuck to the recipe, but always managed to create an amazing meal for his loved ones. Anyone that had the opportunity to eat James’s cooking can attest to the creative flair he had as a home chef. His home in the Richmond/Rosenberg area was filled with warmth, laughter, good eats, prayer, and melody.
Those who knew James will remember his friendly smile and how easy he was to talk to. He had a gift for making everyone feel at ease — whether he was chatting about life, praising God, or simply sharing a good laugh. He truly emulated the comforting presence of a man who truly loved the Lord.
A man of God through and through, James’s faith guided every part of his life. He never hesitated to celebrate the Lord’s goodness, often moved to tears when reflecting on how faithful God had been to him. His gentle spirit, easygoing nature, and unwavering devotion to his family and faith touched everyone who knew him.
There was still so much James hoped to experience and enjoy — moments he looked forward to with his loved ones — but God, in His wisdom, called him home sooner than anyone expected. Though his earthly journey ended too soon, his life remains a testament to joy, thankfulness, and conviction in God’s perfect timing.
“Well done, good and faithful servant… enter into the joy of your Lord.” — Matthew 25:23
