James Lawrence Sowell was born in Corpus Christi, TX on December 27, 1955. He had gone through elementary in Corpus Christi but his mother moved to Houston where he had a lot of friends. He was always a happy person. In his teens he started to work to help his mother. He always made his mother coffee in the mornings. When he was with the family he always stood out not only for being funny, but his golden hair. They would say he was Tia Nena’s son, because he was one of two gringos in the family. James was a very caring person. He loved to make sure his mother was always being cared for. He loved life so much that he would go places and we would not even know where he went. Then out of the blue he would show up and tell you that he went to Corpus Christi, San Antonio or even Mexico. When he would return he would always offer to help around the house or yard. James had various jobs from a machinist, cook and even landscaping. I would say he loved being outside. He would always have a nice tan. He loved the water, whether it was the beach or by the pool side. One thing people would say is that James would make a great “Wife”. He would always clean the house, the yard and even the car, as long as you let him use it. James never married but he always had someone close to him that he loved and cared for. He always enjoyed his Budweiser and cigarettes. After his mother past away he adopted her Chihuahua “Tita”. Tita was his new best friend. Tita was a toy Chihuahua and always would lie on his chest. Even later in life James still lived life care free but start change to Busch Beer, yuck. When he was a cook he enjoyed it and loved to BBQ. He loved his niece Aundria, which he missed because he was somewhere else. As time went by unfortunately he got lung cancer and fought the best he could. We lost him on April 14, 2014. He is now with his mom and family as well with Tita. You will be dearly missed but always remain in our thoughts and hearts.
