

On February 7, 1948, a baby boy was born to Ollie Witchet, Sr. and Dorothy Witchet Scott. They named him James; he was fondly called “Witchet”. He was reared in Acres Homes and attended school in the Houston Independent School District. James graduated from MC Williams in 1968. He was very athletic, participating in Baseball, Basketball, Football and Track and Field.
He accepted Christ at an early age at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. G.G. Grant. He later joined the Church of Christ where he served faithfully until his health failed.
James was employed for 40 years at Ferguson Enterprises as a Manager of Inventory and Files Clerk. He retired in 2016. He was well loved by all his co-workers. In 1968 he married Margaret Lindsey Braggs. Two sons were born to this union. On April 29, 1985, he married Debra Witchet.
James was preceded in death by his parents, his son Raymond Lewis Witchet and his oldest brother, Ollie Witchet Jr. In the early morning hours of July 14, 2024, James transitioned from this life to glory.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his loving and devoted wife, Debra, his son James Witchet Jr. (Dina), his brother Fred Witchet (Altha), his grandchildren; Daniel Witchet, Veronica Witchet, Margaret Witchet, Carl Nethercutt IV and a host of relatives and friends.
A visitation for James will be held Friday, July 26, 2024 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Paradise Funeral Home, Inc, 10401 West Montgomery, Houston, TX 77088. A visitation will be held on Saturday, July 27, 2024 from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM, 10401 West Montgomery, Houston, TX 77088. A funeral service will immediately from 2:30 PM to 3:30 PM,. A committal will follow from 3:45 PM to 4:00 PM at Paradise Funeral Home & Cemetery North, 10401 W Montgomery Rd, Houston, TX 77088.
