Jan Rhea Blackmon

Jan Rhea Blackmon passed away at home on Monday, January 21, 2013 after a 7 year battle with cancer. Jan was born in Fairfield, Alabama and was preceded in death by her parents David and Florence Rhea of Bessemer, Alabama. She was also preceded in death by 2 brothers and 2 sisters. Jan is survived by her husband of 48 years John B. Blackmon; daughter, Andrea and husband Gayle Dotts; son, Benson and wife Christina Blackmon and granddaughters, Haley Dotts, Abby Blackmon and Maggie Alegria. Ben worked for Crown Cork and Seal and Jan was a homemaker. They lived in several states before residing in Richmond, Texas. Jan enjoyed restoring, buying and dealing in antiques. She loved interior design and decorating, fashion, golf and quality time with family and friends. She loved animals of all kinds especially her two poodles Tasha and Milagro. She loved the beach and the home they had on Dauphin Island, Alabama. Jan was a devoted member of Calvary Episcopal Church. She was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother and friend to many. She will truly be missed and will live in our hearts eternally. A visitation will be held at Forest Park Westheimer on Thursday, Jan.24th , from 6-8 p.m. The funeral service will begin at 2 p.m. in the main Chapel of Forest Park Westheimer on Friday, Jan. 25th.
