

Jane Lee Chung, age 91, peacefully passed away to be with the Lord in Heaven on July 22, 2025. Jane is a resident of Houston, Texas and will always be remembered as a caring friend to many. Jane is a longtime member of Chinese Baptist Church, Chinese Professional Club, and a former City of Houston Healthcare worker. She is preceded by her father Yin Chung Lee and mother Tuey Lun Wong.
Jane was born in Taishan, Guangdong China. After attending True Light Girls School in Hong Kong, she came to Houston in 1951 to be with her parents. Jane graduated as a Registered Nurse from the University of Houston College of Nursing in 1957. Jane started at Hermann Hospital in obstetrics and gynecology and was selected to be part of the first group of nurses to start up Park Plaza Hospital. She also served the City of Houston Health Department as a clinical nurse and as a field nurse, serving the Sunnyside area community. In 1995 she was voted as City of Houston Health Department Best Registered Nurse. She retired from the City of Houston later that year. Most important to Jane was the many friendships she had with coworkers and patients while serving in healthcare. Jane was also well known as a restauranteur, becoming a partner of her Father’s former restaurant Lee’s Den. During the time she spent operating the restaurant, she made sure that every customer left the restaurant well fed.
Jane has been married for 67 years to William Chung and has two sons, daughters-in-law and four grandchildren. She is survived by two sisters, one brother and their respective spouses. Jane is also blessed to be surrounded by nieces, nephews, great niece, great nephew, and many cousins and their respective families.
The family thanks the entire staff at Brazos Towers at Bayou Manor for their loving care during Jane’s time there.
A visitation will be held at Memorial Oaks Cemetery Chapel on Friday August 8, 2025 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Chinese Baptist Church, 900 Brogden Rd, Houston, TX 77024 on Saturday August 9, 2025 at 10:00am.
