

Jane Isabel Swanson Mercer, 93, of Tomball passed away on November 15, 2017 and was surrounded by her loving family. Jane was born October 6, 1924 in El Campo, Texas to Dr. Frank and Kathryn Swanson and was the youngest of 3 children.
She graduated El Campo High School, and went on to pursue her higher education, at a business school in Houston, Texas. Jane married the love of her life Don Wayland Mercer in 1951. Together they loved to dance to the Glenn Miller Band and raised a beautiful family.
She worked as a bank officer for more than 20 years. When she wasn’t at work she enjoyed sewing, reading and most of all spending time with her family. Ninety-nine percent of her time as a mother was spent on the baseball filed watching her son Steven play baseball and sewing costumes for Donna’s dance recitals. She was always there for her children.
Jane is preceded in death by, son, 3-year-old Jeffrey Weldon Appling; father, Dr. Frank Dewey Swanson Sr.; mother Kathryn Beulah Batchelor Swanson; brother, Frank Dewey Swanson Jr.; sister, Bettye Jean Swanson Poole Zoch; and husband of 47 years, Don Wayland Mercer.
Jane is survived by, daughter, Donna Jane Mercer Manceaux and husband Billie Wayne Manceaux; son Steven Swanson Mercer and wife Susan Withington Mercer; grandchildren, Steven Swanson Mercer II, Billie Wayne Manceaux Jr., Gregory Withington Mercer, Allison Jane Mercer, Sara Jane Manceaux; great grandchildren, Averi Jane Manceaux, Paige Morgan Manceaux, Gavin O’Neil Manceaux, Blake Mathew Williams, Tyler Jeffery Mercer, Jack Swanson Mercer, Austin Charles Mercer, Nora Elizabeth Mercer, Anna Marie Mercer and Jane Elizabeth Mercer.
The Pallbearers are Steven Mercer II, Billie Manceaux Jr., Gregory Mercer, Ryan Poole, Pete Spencer, Jack Swanson, and Billie Manceaux Sr. and the Honorary Pallbearers are Spencer Thigpen and Robert Swanson.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society.
