Janie Marie Vogel

Janie Marie Vogel, 45, of Houston, Texas passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home on Sunday, Dec. 27th, 2020. She was born Oct. 24th, 1975, in Dallas, Texas to Lemuel Wooten and Carrie Anne Thornton (Ingle).

Janie found and married her soul mate, Daniel Harrison Vogel on July 9th, 2004 in Rockwall, Texas. Together, they lived in Pittsburgh, PA and then in Arlington, Austin and Houston Texas. For the past 4 years, they have lived in Houston, Texas. She had a wide circle of family and friends whom she routinely communicated with. She was a dedicated & loving wife and step-mother, and protector of everyone and everything that she loved. Finally, there was a special place in her heart for fur babies and enjoyed caring for and raising several adopted dogs and cats throughout her life. During this past year, she developed a passion for cooking, and spent the better part of 2020 pandemic in the kitchen honing her skills.

Anyone that has met Janie was drawn in instantly by her “Sass and Brass” – which refers to her quick wit, an infectious laugh and her long kinky red hair. She frequently would say things that were said to make you think – which her friends and family often referred to as “Janie-isms”. Janie radiated beauty from the inside out and outside in. Her friends and family will always remember her as someone who loved unconditionally and who could always find the good in everyone. She never judged anyone; she embraced and accepted everyone as they were.

Janie leaves behind to cherish her memory her husband, Daniel Vogel; step-children, Allison & Eric Vogel; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, David & Josephine Vogel; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, James & Jamie Vogel; her aunt and uncle, Wanda Marie (Janie’s middle name namesake) & Lee Burch and cousins Scott, Mike and Russell; her uncle, Jim Majors and her cousins Jill, Janet and Jennifer; and a step-brother; her pet, Luna; and a wide circle of friends and countless people whose lives she touched.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Lemuel Wooten and Carrie Anne Thornton (Ingle) and also her Aunt whom she is named after, Janie Majors (Ingle).

An online “Celebration of Life” Services will be held virtually at 6:00 pm CT, Friday, Jan. 8th 2021, where Rev. Dr. Jim Majors will provide the spiritual message. Information on how to join this service is included below. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, no visitation or services will occur in person. A private cremation will be held at a later date.
