As a teenager, Jannie accepted Christ and was baptized. She became a devoted member of the African Methodist Episcopal Church, where her faith blossomed and grew.
Jannie later met the love of her life, Clarence Lee Williams Sr., and they were united in holy matrimony on November 11, 1958. From that moment on, Jannie and Clarence were inseparable, united in their passion for both family and church.
Together, they served faithfully at Mount Horeb Baptist Church and Morning Star Baptist Church in Houston, Texas, under the leadership of Pastor S.H. Smith. As First Lady, Jannie also served as the music minister at Unity Missionary Baptist Church, where her husband pastored. She further shared her musical gifts as a clinician for the Baptist Mission District. After the passing of her husband, she united with the Luke Church Humble under the leadership of Dr. Timothy Sloan, until her health failed and God called her home.

She served as a spiritual mentor, a women’s ministry leader, and a pillar of support to both her husband and their congregation.
