

Jean Ruth Darnell Moore passed away Monday, February 20, 2012. She will be greatly missed by her husband of 61 years, 8 months and 3 days, Thomas Jerry (T.J.) Moore; her three children: Thomas Jerry Moore, Jr. and wife Debbie; Sheryl Lynn Moore Smith and husband Bobby; and John Terry Moore, Sr.; nine grandchildren: Thomas Jerry Moore, III; Jeremy Daniel Moore and wife Kina, Samuel Darnell Moore and wife Andrea; Candice Dawn Walton; Matthew Ryan Walton; Raychill Young Moore McCormack; John Terry Moore, Jr.; Samantha Ann Moore; Cody Travis Smith and eight great-grandchildren: Trent Damien Moore; Zion Catalina Moore; Kya Storm Moore; Devin Tate Moore; Joseph Blake Whichard; Jaqulyn Madison Sepulvada; Tyler James Dunn; and Mackenzie Caitlin McCormack.
Jean was born in Houston, Texas, on October 2, 1929, to Mary and Charles Darnell – the second of five children. She attended Jeff Davis High School in Houston where she was involved in the school drill team. In her youth she was an avid ice skater and an award winning bowler.
T.J. and Jean met on a blind date, but one was not with the other; Jean was with Bob, and T.J. was with a friend of Bob; however, after the date, T.J. told his younger brother, Damon, that he had met his future wife. The prophesy was fulfilled on June 17, 1950.
Jean is preceded in death by her mother and father; baby brother, John, who died at birth; brother Charles; sister Elaine; and nephews, David and Dennis Hilton. She is survived by her brother Lawrence (Larry) Darnell and wife Marion, as well as numerous nephews, nieces, and life-long friends
Visitation will be from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm Friday, February 24, 2012 at Brookside Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be conducted at 2:00 pm Saturday, February 25, 2012 at Brookside Family Chapel with the Reverend Jerry Cronan presiding. Committal service to follow in Brookside Memorial Park.
