

Jeanne Louise Cox Watson, 90, was granted her angel wings on July 16, 2010 and joined her husband of 50 years, Bennett Watson, who predeceased her in 2006. Jeanne passed away peacefully in her home, having lived a long, happy and productive life. She was born July 28, 1920 in Hamilton, Missouri, the daughter of the late Arthur Denis Cox and Anna Katherine Streeter Cox. Her family moved to Kansas City, MO when she was five years old.
She is survived by her beloved stepchildren, Bonnie Kalar, John Watson, Susanne Flake and David Watson. Jeanne also had many cousins throughout the country, with whom she always kept in contact.
Jeanne’s Kansas City schooling included Scarritt Grade School, Northeast Jr. and Sr. High School. She graduated from Northeast Jr. College in 1938. In Kansas City, she began her working career at Western Auto Supply Co., Hallmark’s Greeting Cards, Sealright Bottling Co., and then on to North America Aviation Co.
During World War II, she worked at Hickam Field, Army Air Corps on Oahu, Hawaii as a civilian office worker. After the war, she moved to Galveston, TX and worked for the Marine Insurance Co. She relocated to New Orleans, where she was employed by Blue Cross/Blue Shield. Afterwards, she worked for Hale Boggs during his unsuccessful bid for Governor of Louisiana,
Relocating to Houston, she became the Executive Secretary to the President of Daniel Orifice Fitting Co. While at Daniel, she then met and later married Bennett Watson.
Jeanne was a member of Tallowood Baptist Church and a devout Christian. Jeanne also supported many charitable organizations and was always generous toward others. She loved to dance and kept up with current events. Jeanne was a caring, thoughtful person who will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00PM Saturday July 24, 2010 in the Memorial Oaks Funeral Home Chapel 13001 Katy Freeway Houston, Texas 77079.
