

With deep love and gratitude, the family of Jesse L. Seymore announces his peaceful transition on February 25, 2026, at the age of 86. Born on March 20, 1939, in Eads, Tennessee, to William and Laura Seymore (Taylor). Jesse was one of Laura's thirteen children. Siblings: Bertha, William, Arthur (Freddy), Melvin, Ann, Ozell, Mary-Lee, Harriet, Floretta, Joyce, Mike and Hugh . He attended and graduated from Woodstock High School, where he proudly referred to himself as a self‑proclaimed basketball star.
Jesse lived a life defined by service, perseverance, and a steadfast commitment to creating opportunities for others.
A proud veteran, Jesse honorably served in the United States Air Force, where he developed the discipline, leadership, and technical curiosity that would later guide his professional path. He pursued higher education and graduated from DePaul University in Chicago, an achievement that opened the door to a long and meaningful career in the emerging field of computer technology.
Motivated by a desire to effect change, Jesse dedicated his career to expanding opportunities for minorities in the computer industry. With courage, vision, and entrepreneurial spirit, he founded Seymore Systems, a software and computer company based in Chicago. Through this work, he not only built a successful business but also created pathways and mentorship opportunities for countless individuals who followed in his footsteps.
Jesse is survived by his children:
Kenneth Seymore, Cheryl Smith (Michael), Kathy Seymore, and Jessica Washington (Adrian).
He took immense pride in his family and celebrated their achievements throughout his life.
Jesse’s legacy continues through his beloved grandchildren:
NaTashia Shepherd (James), Tiffany Lemmons (Joshua), Olivia Washington, Sophia Washington, and Adrian J. Washington.
Each child brought joy, laughter, and renewed purpose to his life.
He was further blessed with six great‑grandchildren, whose smiles and boundless energy brightened his later years. Jesse cherished watching each new generation grow.
Jesse’s life was a testament to hard work and integrity. The stories he shared, the wisdom he offered, and the help he provided will continue to motivate all who knew him and will live in our hearts.
Though he has completed his earthly journey, Jesse leaves behind a powerful legacy. His memory will forever remain a source of pride, strength, and inspiration.
A Celebration of Life will be held at American Heritage Funeral Home, 10710 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, TX 77038, US, on March 6, 2026, from 11:15 am to 12:15 pm.
