JoAnn graduated high school from Kinkaid and continued her education at Rice University where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in 1964. While at Rice she met and fell in love with Brian Lattimer whom she married in 1967 and raised two children. JoAnn worked as a teacher at Landrum Middle School and Clear Creek High School here in Houston. Later she taught at Dhahran Academy while living in Saudi Arabia. In 1979 she went to work for Houston Grinding & Manufacturing as the secretary-treasurer, retiring in 2020 after working over 40 years with HGM.
She had a profound love of travelling and visited more than 80 countries throughout the world. During the 1970’s she lived abroad in Japan, Saudi Arabia, and Singapore before settling back in Houston to raise a family. JoAnn always had a passion for the arts particularly theater and music and often attended performances at the Alley Theater. She had a lifelong interest in literature and most evenings could be found reading one of her mystery novels before bed. JoAnn also enjoyed supporting the sports programs for Rice University and was a constant fixture at their baseball games. Through it all she always found a way to put family first and devoted herself to supporting her husband and children above all else.
JoAnn is survived by her husband Brian, sons Daniel and James, and grandsons Blake, Grayson, and Tarek. She leaves behind a legacy of being a loving wife and dedicated mother whose generosity and thoughtfulness touched the lives of those around her. She will always be remembered for her kindness and compassion by everyone who knew her. Her absence leaves a void in our hearts only partially filled by the comfort that we were blessed enough to have had her in our lives. We will always miss her.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.memorialoaksfunerals.com for the Lattimer family.
