

Joe is preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jean Ballard of 61 years; brothers, Leroy Ballard, Scott Ballard and Charles Ballard; sister, LuMae Cross; and grandson, Joseph Wright, along with other family members.
He is survived by his children,James and wife Carol Ballard, Cindy and husband JD Brahm and Betty and husband Carl Hewitt; grandchildren, Jeremy, Jennifer, Julie, Joseph, Jeannie and Brian; great-grandchildren, Sophia, Ariana, Quentin, Brielyn, David Jr., Reagan, Madison, Jayden and Loren;
Sister, Ruth Ness; sister-in-law, Juanita Ballard; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Roy and Mary Wagoner. He also leaves behind many family members and friends.
Family will receive friends on Friday, February 3, 2017 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at Brookside Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at 3:00pm in the Grand Chapel of Brookside Funeral Home. Interment to follow at Brookside Memorial Park.
Fathers provide not only support but also encouragement. By profession, I am a soldier and take pride in that fact. But I am a prouder -infinitely prouder- to be a father.
Joe was a family man, man of God, and a person who loved the outdoors. He would come in from work and load up his wife and kids and take off for camping trips.
He worked for Dr. Pepper and then went on to finish his career of 41 years at Rainbow Bakery as a machinist.
Joe always looked forward to watching Baseball and later loved to go bowling.
He was faithful in serving the Lord especially during the summer when he would attend church camp. Always attended church even when he didn't feel good, because he would say that it makes him feel better when he goes to church.
Joe served in the Marine's from 1953-1955. Servicing location was Japan, Korea, and California. Was given (2) metals for Rifleman Leader.
