He was born in Houston, Texas on July 26, 1963. Joe graduated from Jefferson Davis High School, class of 1981. He was married to Sandra C. Vega on March 11, 1995.
Joe was a Senior Police Officer for the Houston Police Department, Academy Class #129, and proudly served for 31 years. During his time on the force, he served Northwest, Jail, Traffic/Accident, and Traffic Enforcement and Vehicular Crimes divisions. Due to his health, he retired from the police force on December 16, 2016. Joe was an active member of Holy Name Catholic Church for many years. When not serving the community, Joe was always helping out his friends and family. He loved to be a part of everything. His hobbies included making custom silk screen t-shirts and construction projects. His passion for construction led to building his home that he shared with his wife and kids. Joe loved a good rivalry with his wife when it came to sports. One thing that never changed was his love for the Dallas Cowboys.
Joe was a great provider and worked non-stop. He was a jack of all trades. If he didn’t know something, he would figure it out just to prove you wrong.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Sandra C. Vega, children Monica Noriega, husband Edward, Joe Vega Jr., wife Dania, Mark Vega, Rosie Vega and Matthew Vega, grandchildren Anthony Noriega, Tessa Noriega, Alyssa Vega, Joe Vega III, mother, Bessie Vega, siblings Greg, wife Nancy, Sandy and Cindy, husband Luis, nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Joe is preceded in death by his father, Armando R. Vega.
A visitation for Joe will be held on Friday, June 7th from 5:00-8:00pm, with a rosary at 7:00pm at Pat H. Foley & Co., 1200 W 34th St, Houston, Texas 77018. Mass will be on Saturday, June 8th at 10:00am, Holy Name Catholic Church, 1920 Marion St, Houston, Texas 77009.
