Growing up in Lake Charles, LA, Joey attended La Grange High School where he excelled in football as well as baseball. Joey went onto attend McNeese State University where his love for baseball flourished as well as being active in the Kappa Sigma Fraternity, pledge class 1970. Joey made sure that everything he did was done to the best of his ability; and lived life to the fullest. After college, Joey moved to Houston, where he met the love of his life Roxanne Chandler. They married on March 3, 1979, having many wonderful years together and welcomed their baby girl Reagan in 1991. His life was full of love and laughter, friends and family; Joey was the type of man that never met a stranger. His larger than life personality made him the success that he was and the great man that so many admired.
He is survived by: his loving wife, Roxanne Diaz, his daughter, Reagan Diaz, his mother, Vivian Cichowski, his father, Joe Diaz, his sisters Carmen Diaz, Carolyn Diaz and Elizabeth Brown, as well as many nieces and nephews.
