John Henry Braxton Jr., affectionately called ‘Junior,’ passed Saturday, June 29, 2024, in Pearland, TX. Junior was born May 13, 1962, to parents Sarah Jean and John Henry Braxton, Sr. in Houston, TX. He graduated from James Madison High School in 1980 and would develop a love for landscaping. He could always be seen sporting a pair of Chucks and carrying a “sweat rag.” He loved listening to music, dancing, telling corny jokes and sharing funny stories from his past.
While never having children of his own, he became an honorary father to his nephew, Deylan, and niece, Stesha, and was overall great with children. Junior was always the coolest guy in the room and was unapologetic about who he was.
John is survived by his sisters, Sheryl Braxton and Loretta Broadnax; honorary brother, Kelvin Broadnax; niece, Stesha Chandler; great-nephew, Deylan A. Braxton; aunts, Letha Broadnax, Glorine McCoy (James) and Leatrice (Henry); uncles, James Broadnax (Shirley), Claude Broadnax, A.D. Broadnax (Cleo), Samuel Broadnax (Chanel), Terry Broadnax (Jeanie), and Willie Ray Braxton (Gloria); and a host of cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Sarah Jean and John Henry Braxton, Sr.; nephew, Deylan T. Braxton; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Broadnax and Mr. and Mrs. Braxton; multiple aunts and uncles and special friend Cathy Crockett
