

John Raymond Fletcher, 80, of Houston, Texas, passed away on April 14, 2026 in Sugar Land, Texas.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 on Friday, April 24, 2026, at Memorial Oaks Cemetery with Sherman Fletcher, eldest son officiating. Service will be graveside only, family will have private viewing at a prearranged time. Arrangements are by Garden Oaks Funeral Home.
John Raymond Fletcher was born in Houston, Texas, to Clifford and Kathleen Fletcher on August 30, 1945. He went to school at the University of Houston. He married Mary Creel on August 14, 1970 in Houston, Texas. He worked as a facility maintenance engineer for TIRR for 25 plus years. He served in the National Guard until he was medically discharged. He was a member of the West University Church of Christ and served many years as a deacon. He loved to fish, take short trips on the weekends, loved silly TV shows, played word games on his phone and cherished his family most of all. Even though he spent his last days in the hospital he knew that there were bigger things waiting for him in Heaven. He prayed for a swift and fast ascension to his place next to our Heavenly father.
John is preceded in death by his parents Clifford Raymond Fletcher and Edna Kathleen Fletcher.
John is survived by his wife Mary Fletcher; sons Sherman Fletcher and wife Adaliz Fletcher; Raymond Fletcher and wife Odette Fletcher; daughters Elizabeth Fletcher, Marilynn Shay and husband Sean Shay; Grandchildren Christopher and Alexis Fletcher; Maria and Mason Davis; Marco Fletcher; Gregorio Fletcher; Nikki Fletcher. Great Grandchildren Layne Fletcher, Levi Davis, Leticia Davis and Leia Shay.
Memorial donations may be given to Shriners Hospital for Children.
The family of John wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the nursing staff on the fourth floor of Methodist Sugar Land Hospital main building, the staff of the ICU at Methodist Sugar Land Hospital second floor, Dr, Brenton Armstrong, Dr, Manmeet Singh, Wynell Andrus, Cameron Bird, and all the friends and family that prayed and checked in with him on Facebook.
