

John Edward Hewitt entered heaven on September 17, 2017. The son of John B. and Jennie Hewitt, he was born on July 11, 1927, in Butte, MT. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, attained his degree from the University of Montana and then served in the U.S Army during the Korean War as a Sergeant. After the war, he worked for Shell Oil until his retirement.
He is survived by the love of his life, Jean, whom he married in Denver, Colorado in 1958. He is survived by his sister Pauline Nygaard and her husband Harold; his three sons, Carl and his wife Betty, Bruce and his wife Roxanne, Glenn and his wife Lanie. In addition he is survived by his grandchildren: Jeannie, Brian, Paighton, Abby, John, Andrew, Riley, great-granddaughter Loren, and another great grandchild on the way. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law Betty Fluegge and Mary Dunham as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
John enjoyed his home, his garden and walks around the neighborhood of Nottingham West to chat with all of the neighbors. John was always pleased to have the entire family over for big family meals and holiday gatherings. He was a wonderful, caring husband, father, and grandfather who will be deeply missed.
A graveside service will take place on Saturday, September 30, 2017 at 10:00am followed by a Celebration of Life at Christ Memorial Lutheran Church, 14200 Memorial Drive, Houston TX 77079.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made in his memory to Christ Memorial Lutheran Church, 14200 Memorial Drive, Houston, TX 77079 or to the charity of choice.
