

Jack was born and raised in Baltimore City, Maryland, spending the last half of his life in Houston,Texas.
Jack was predeceased by his beloved wife, Lois. He was a loving father to JoAnn Chatlosh and Brian (wife Wendy) Hopkins; a devoted grandfather to Jean and Jonathan (wife Chelsey) Franz, Alexander (wife Amanda) and Christopher (wife Elizabeth) Hopkins. He was also a proud great-grandfather to Kiersten, Kaden, and Lennox Franz, as well as Nora and Lila Hopkins. Jack was predeceased by his brothers, Melvin, Earle, Paul, and Robert; sister, Mary; and parents, John and Catherine (Finnerty) Hopkins.
Jack graduated from Patterson Park High School and went on to the U.S. Coast Guard where he served during the Korean War. After serving his country, Jack worked for and retired from Chevron and continued to work during his retirement years at Westside Lexus. He was beloved by all who knew him and always had a smile on his face. Jack cherished time spent with family and friends and was known for his gentle wisdom and steady presence. His legacy lives on in the lives of those he loved and guided. He will be missed by many.
Jack will be laid to rest with full military honors at the Houston National Cemetery. A visitation for Jack will be held Thursday, May 29, 2025, from 11:30am to 12:30pm at American Heritage Funeral Home, 10710 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, TX 77038. A funeral service will occur Thursday, May 29, 2025, from 12:30pm to 1:30pm, 10710 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, TX 77038. A committal service will occur Thursday, May 29, 2025, from 2:00pm to 2:30pm at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr, Houston, TX 77038. A reception will occur Thursday, May 29, 2025, from 2:30pm to 4:30pm, 10710 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, TX 77038.
