John G. Horan

John was born in Louisville, Kentucky, on September 27, 1933, to Percy Clark and Eva Wester Hoar. He graduated from the University of Louisville in 1955 with a degree in Accounting. After college, he served as Navigator in the US Air Force Strategic Air Command. Much of his career was as a computer systems analyst for Shell Oil Company in Houston, Texas. After retirement, he was a docent in the Butterfly Center at the Houston Museum of Natural Science.

In 1959, John married Patricia Bastien Horan, with whom he had four children. She died in 1983. He is survived by his wife, Jo Kathryn Horan, who he married in 1986. He leaves his four children, Mary Frances Horan, of Chevy Chase, Maryland, who is married to Richard Walker; Michael Patrick Horan of Houston, who is married to Nerida Horan; Kathleen Marie Horan Grand of Houston who is married to Bill Grand; and Edward John Horan of New Orleans. He is survived by his two step children Julia Mann Garcia and Bruce Mann, both of Houston. He leaves four grandchildren, Caroline Walker, Katie Garcia, Adam Grand and Cecilia Grand. He is also survived by his older brother, Jack, who lives in Arizona.

Visitation will be Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at 9:00 am at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church, 6800 Buffalo Speedway, Houston, Texas 77025. Funeral Liturgy will be conducted Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at 10:00 am at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church, 6800 Buffalo Speedway, Houston, Texas 77025 with interment to follow at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery, 12800 Westheimer Road, Houston, Texas 77077.
