

John Martin III was born on May 27th, 1997 to Jacquelyn Martin and John Martin Jr. John graduated from Eisenhower High School in 2015 in the top 10%. He went on to attend Westminster College, where he made a name for himself. He made Dean’s list three of the four years there. John became the first African-American homecoming king. While there, he joined the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. John obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree. John enjoyed working with special needs children, volunteer work, fixing and building things, clowning with family and friends, and of course, grilling.
John was proceeded in death by his grandfathers: Jimmie Ray Stevenson, John Martin Sr., and Eugene Smith; grandmother, Phyllis Smith; great-grandmother, Irene Jackson; Mattie Pearl Mcbride; great-grandfather, Elmer Montgomery (Tootie); brother, Terrance Smith; aunts, Rosla Roshelle Montgomery and Christine Martin; uncle, Eugene Smith Jr. (Tonka); great-aunts, Barbara Williams and Sabrina Thompson; great-uncle, Freddie Lee Curry.
He leaves to cherish his memories of his father, John Martin Jr., and mother, Jacquelyn Martin; grandmother, Gloria Lee Stevenson; aunts, Tomeka Deshay Stevenson, Raquel Smith, and Pinnie L Robertson (Patrick Robertson); uncles, James G. Hayward, James A. Martin, Tony Davis, and Gloston Smith; brothers, Tevin Dewayne Martin, Cordell Fulfird, Edward Farewell, Cedric Smith, and Phillip
Smith; sister, Laresha Roshelle Martin; bonus brother, Mike Soptick (Shawna Soptick), and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Funeral services 11am Saturday, November 11, 2023 at Calvary Missionary Baptist Church , 9013 McGallion Rd, Houston, TX 77022. Family will receive friends 9am until time of service. Interment Paradise Cemetery North.
