

Joe was born on June 19, 1940 and was happily married to the former Josefina “Josie” Eltanal of Dumaguete for 39 years.
A dedicated Biology teacher in high school for almost 32 years, Joe assumed the role of both father and mother to his three wonderful children, Eileen, Patrick and John Ryan, after Josie left for the United States in the hope of securing a better future for their family. Both Eileen and Patrick came to the US as registered nurses, and currently working at MD Anderson Cancer Center and the Johns Hopkins Hospital respectively – both respected medical institutions in the country. Joe and Josie cannot be proud more than what their children had accomplished in terms of career. Patrick and Eileen are finishing graduate school to become acute care nurse practitioners. The family was fully reunited in the US in 2004, and since then Joe was able to tour to several states including Canada.
Joe will be missed by his wife Josie; children Eileen, Patrick, JR; son-in-law Nino and grandchildren: Charlie and Brandon; sisters, Hermie and Amparo and brother Roger. And nephews and nieces: Richard, Joy, Pinky, Jenny, Rolly and Ronald.
A memorial mass will be held at St. Ambrose Catholic Church on April 8 at 9:00 a.m. interment follows at the Memorial Oaks Cemetery.
