

Joseph James Bourret III of Houston, Texas passed away on August 18, 2024 at the age of 81. Joseph was born on August 13, 1943 in Houston, Texas to Joseph James Bourret Jr. and Helen Casey Bourret. Joseph III was committed to the teachings of the Catholic Church. He was passionate about the disciplines of philosophy and theology, which led him to the University of St. Thomas, Houston. There he earned his BA in Philosophy. After completing his studies for his PHD in Philosophy at The University of Dallas, he became owner of The Brazos Floral Company, which was opened in 1926 by his beloved aunt’s Madeline Casey Freer and Evelyn Casey Pyle.
Joseph III had a great love and passion for engaging in philosophical discussions with colleagues, friends and family (or whoever would listen!). He also taught classes in Philosophy and Theology at Houston Community College. He was proceeded in death by his beloved parents and brother, Gerald Bourret, as well as numerous aunts and uncles. He is survived by his daughter Monica Bourret-Salas and husband Raul, son Joseph Bourret lV. Beloved grandchildren Nicole Bergquist, Natalie Bourret, Joseph Bourret V, Jonathan Bourret, grandchild in love Stephan Salas. Brother John Bourret and wife Eva, nephew John Bourret Jr.
A graveside service for Joseph will be held Monday, September 2, 2024 at 11:00 am at Forest Park Lawndale, 6900 Lawndale St., Houston, Texas 77023.
