

Captain Joseph “Joe” Thomas Coyle Jr, 93, of Houston, Texas passed away peacefully on July 27, 2020. He was born to parents Joseph and Cleopatra Coyle on April 7, 1927 in Hamilton, Ohio. In 1945, he enlisted in the Army and was assigned to Fort Hayes, Ohio. He was wounded in combat during the Korean War and was awarded the Purple Heart. He was later discharged with full honors and became a founder of the KWVA-Texas Lone Star Chapter. Joe was a brave and loyal soldier, as well as a loving husband and father. A naturally gifted writer and orator, he held a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and spent his career in public relations. He served as an election judge for years for the Republican Party of Texas and was a regular contributor to several charities. He married Patricia Anne Bell, the love of his life, in 1977. Widowed in 2015, he spent his remaining time writing several novels, his favorite past-time. He is survived by sons, Joseph (Sarah), Shane, and Tommy Duncan (Suzy). He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Patricia.
A viewing will take place at Brookside Funeral Home-Cypress Creek on Monday, August 3 from 5:00pm - 8:00pm, followed by interment with Military Honors at the Houston National Cemetery on Tuesday, August 4 at 11:00AM.
